"This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." Luke 22:19
Memorial Day began after the civil war to remember those who died in battle and to decorate their graves. Originally it was called Decoration Day but was later changed in the twentieth century to Memorial Day, a day to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country. From the time of its inception thousands of brave young men and women have given up their lives to insure our freedom and to protect our civil liberties, but only One died to set us free forever from sin and eternal damnation and we need to remember what He did for us as well.
War is Hell as any will tell you who have been there and America has had her fair share of battles fought here and abroad, but now we have a new enemy rising up out of the earth, an enemy that has been released from the pits of Hell by God Himself as judgment on a people who have rejected and forgotten the redemptive act of mercy that Jesus suffered on the cross. Although new to some who have never seen the powers of darkness manifested in human form, ISIS is an example of demonic possession of a human being, the same people that God sent against Israel for their rebellion against Him. This enemy has been around since the beginning but as we approach the end of time their destructive activities will greatly increase around the world.
Sin has blossomed into a rod of wickedness around the globe and in America as we gravitate toward evil, forgetting our only source of deliverance and throwing caution to the wind. The modern day mantra being: "If it feels good do it!" No rules just right, God is dead and no one is going to tell us what to do as the liberal mindset says, denying even the existence of the Most High. Abortion, same sex marriage, the Gay agenda and the sexual revolution are all out of the closet because there is no fear of God in the land because the church of Jesus Christ has entered the time of the apostasy, the great falling away from the faith!
Look at the nation of Israel, God's chosen people and take notice of what has happened to them in the last two thousand years since they rejected the Lord Jesus Christ and had Him crucified. Scattered throughout the earth, persecuted and tortured, six million put to death in the gas chambers of the Nazis death camps, hated throughout the earth because they rebelled against God and didn't recognize the time of their visitation. This tiny country has endured much and even now the pagan nations that God warned them about, because they refused to run them out of their land is becoming what He said they would be: pricks in their eyes and thorns in their sides!
In the midst of the beginning of the summer madness, drunken BBQ's and picnics at the park I would ask that you take a minute to think about the world situation and the state of this nation and remember those who died for you and the One who died for us all, to give us eternal life, peace and the prosperity that following Jesus offers! May God bless you!
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amis, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity (hostility) with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:1-4
