Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, "Every son who is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."Exodus 1:22
The people of God went into Egypt for food to be given out by one of their own home grown sons, Joseph, whom his brothers had sold into slavery. At the time of their arrival the reigning Pharaoh was cordial but as time went on a new Pharaoh came into power with malice in his heart for the people of Israel, and they were put into slavery and divided up under cruel taskmasters. The story of Israel's bondage is a type and shadow of things to come for the body of Christ, and as a deliverer would be sent to Israel to set them free, there is also a Deliverer coming for us, the Lord Jesus Christ.
As Israel labored in the mud pits of Egypt for four hundred plus years, there began to be rumors of a deliverer as they cried out to God for freedom from their bondage. Moses was about to be born when Pharaoh got wind of the prophetic vision of a deliverer coming to set God's people free! About the time of his birth Pharaoh gave a decree to kill the new born sons of Israel so Moses's mother put him in a basket and set him afloat down the river where Pharaoh's daughter found him and raised him up in the kingdom of Egypt to one day become a prince.
Moses was eventually exiled and sent into the wilderness where he became a shepherd and met God in the burning bush and was told to deliver His people. He was eighty years old when he confronted Pharaoh and told him to let God's people go. I believe this story is a prophetic warning for us to be aware of the signs of the times and to expect our Deliverer yet to come. Three times in history there has been a great slaughter of the innocent children before the deliverer comes and today is no different, because fifty million babies have been slaughtered through abortion, another sign of His return!
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH
Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. Matthew 2:16
A Messiah was prophesied to come and set Israel free from her bondage and to be Ruler over His people, but the reigning king was furious and put out a decree to kill the male children. This is the second slaughter of the innocents in the history of the Jewish people in order to wipe out this deliverer and to continue the evil kingdom of Herod, but God intervened and sent Mary and Joseph into the desert to protect the newly born King, Jesus.
From the time of Moses's birth until he became the deliverer of Israel was eighty years, from the time of Jesus's birth until He became the Lamb of God to become the sacrifice for our sins was approximately thirty years. This slaughter of the innocents seems to be Satan's feeble attempt although diabolical in nature to destroy any chance of a deliverer to free God's people. From the very beginning of time the devil has tried to wipe out anything that God had created, starting with Adam and throughout biblical history there has been a spiritual war raging against the kingdom of God!
We would do well to recognize these signs given in scripture as a warning for us all to see the coming glory of the Lord Jesus Christ as He returns to rule and reign in righteousness and peace, defeating the powers of darkness and establishing an eternal kingdom on earth, as it is in Heaven!
"A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." Matthew 2:18
A SIGN APPEARED IN HEAVEN
And another sign appeared in Heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of the stars of Heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. Revelation 12:3,4
From the time of Satan's expulsion from Heaven and his influence to seduce one third of the angels to follow him there has been war raging against God's kingdom. Throughout history the devil has tried his dead level best to defeat the people of God, whether Israel of old, or today, the body of Christ.
As the end of all things approaches and we await our Savior's return, Satan is once again slaughtering the innocents in order to destroy any possibility of Christ's return in the flesh, in other words I believe he is covering all his bases. In 1973 abortion was made legal in America and according to the Guttmacher Institute, from that time fifty million innocent children have been slaughtered in the name of "Choice!" This makes Adolf Hitler look like Ned in the first reader, only killing six million Jews. Wake up and smell the death that hangs in the air over this country like a dark cloud, the land of the free and home of the brave has become a killing field!
This abomination is like no other in the history of the world where a seemingly Christian nation has allowed the murder of their unborn to be a legal form of birth control and a way to end an unwanted pregnancy. It seems like the war on this issue has been silenced with politicians afraid to confront a small band of liberal women and just sweep it under the carpet, but God has not forgotten! Imagine the Father grieving as He sees His beloved children butchered, brains sucked out, burned, poisoned and left to die in waste baskets, squirming in their blood in some darkened kill floor, as we point our self-righteous fingers at every other country for their atrocities as we continue to slaughter the innocents of this land! May God have mercy!
For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:11-13
