"WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR, BUT FEAR ITSELF."
"First of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." Franklin D. Roosevelt
In his 1933 inaugural address Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke these words in the grip of the "Great Depression" in which he exhorts America to advance and not retreat from the unrelenting fear that had come upon the whole nation.
Today we are facing multiple threats of destruction coming upon the land as ISIS advances in the middle east and infiltrates the US and the deadliest virus on the planet begins to spread right here in Dallas! With all the bad news coming from the media it is easy to allow fear to paralyze you and destroy your faith in God in whose hands our safety rests. The body of Christ must arise and shake off the bonds of fear and fight the good fight of faith in order to be able to deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are in desperate need of His life giving Spirit.
I believe that the beginning of tribulation will produce the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever seen as multitudes fear for their very lives and try and run for cover as the powers of darkness are unleashed to rob, kill and destroy as an unprecedented onslaught of evil descends upon the world. Terror is already spreading through the media's coverage of the Ebola crisis and in the hospital where the first patient died people are leaving and new patients are refusing to go there in fear of catching the virus. If this plague is not stopped it has the capability of destroying much of the world's population!
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, (dis-heartened) for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
The believer has nothing to fear but God because ultimately He holds everything upon this earth in His mighty hands and there is nothing hidden from His holy eyes! Sickness, disease, infirmity, terrorists, and yes, even death has no power over those who truly walk in and believe in the power and anointing that has been given to us.
Throughout the ages believers have faced unimaginable circumstances, persecutions, tribulation and threats of torture and death if they didn't renounce their faith in Christ. We too may face these same threats as the world moves closer to the end of the age in which the spirit of antichrist will rule! Many of the apostles and saints of God willingly gave up their lives being martyred for what they believed seeking rather to gain the kingdom of Heaven rather than renounce their Savior. We would do well to observe their courage and faith in the Lord Jesus as we approach these trying times of tribulation.
If God is for us then who can be against us? We fear because we are not grounded in faith and faith is the weapon that defuses fear. Did Jesus not lay His hands upon lepers who had a fearful and dreadful disease, highly contagious and capable of decimating a person as his flesh literally rotted away? Do we not have the same power available to us? The problem is we have not exercised our faith and stepped out of the boat and taken God at His word to walk in faith and do that which He did because it has been given to us to defeat the powers of sickness, disease and death.
"O death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" The sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:55-57
JESUS REBUKED HIS APOSTLES FOR UNBELIEF
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. Mark 16:14
Jesus had trained His disciples for over three years walking throughout the land healing the sick, casting out demons and raising the dead and if anyone had proof that He was indeed the Savior of the world it was them! Talk about on the job training, they had it all and nothing was withheld from them including His upcoming death, burial and resurrection.
Upon His crucifixion they scattered like rabbits in fear and unbelief as if the past few years never happened or maybe they were just imagining all of these miracles they witnessed and maybe He wasn't the Savior after all. Sounds like someone else was loading them up with unbelief trying to convince them as he once tried with Jesus in the wilderness to doubt that he was the Son of the living God! You would think that Jesus would have appeared to His apostles first upon His resurrection, but no, He instead appeared to Mary, once a common road whore but now converted to Christ, something very unusual for a Jewish man to do much less to even give a woman the time of day as was their custom.
Mary tried to tell them but they didn't believe her until the Lord appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief. If Jesus rebuked those whom He walked with what do you suppose He would say to us in these last days as we sit in our comfortable pews of complacency and sip our Starbucks as the world outside our stain glassed cathedrals perishes in eternal fire and damnation? People are going to be in shear panic as the world as we know it begins to further unravel with absolute terror of those things coming upon it and the only help available is we who are washed in the blood of Jesus, filled with His glorious Spirit and commissioned to go into all the world as representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ!
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. "And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:15-18
