THE DIVINE DIALOG
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:1,2
David, the sweet psalmist of Israel, a man after God's own heart who spent countless nights under the stars in communion with the Most High had a solid relationship with Him! David not only knew the Lord, he was known by the Lord as a mighty warrior, a worshiper and a shepherd.
The Lord is our Shepherd if we will submit to His leadership and allow Him to care for us. Sheep, whether animal or human are a full time job to feed and water and they are always in need. A sheep that is wet, heavy with wool and falls down and rolls over on his back cant get up and is called a cast sheep. It's the same with the human version, when we fall it usually takes a Shepherd to pick us up!
Jesus leads us to still waters that we may drink. Sheep wont drink from rushing water because it scares them, thus the Shepherd of our souls leads us into the quiet streams of His presence! Is the Lord your Shepherd, do you thirst and hunger for His refreshing presence that will restore your soul?
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1
HE RESTORES OUR SOUL
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Psalm 23:3
We all need restoration from that which has caused destruction in our lives, whether from addiction, divorce, sickness or the sins that so easily beset us! God's love restores to us what the enemy has stolen from us and fills us with His Holy Spirit, that warm soothing oil of joy and gladness!
When King David sinned with Bathsheba, had her husband murdered and lied about the whole affair, Nathan the prophet confronted him and the Lord convicted him so that he confessed and repented. God forgave him and restored his soul although the consequences of his sins followed him to the grave.
Is your soul in need of restoration? Do you need to confess and repent of something you have done and are presently convicted of? Then don't delay because God promised that if we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness and lead us back on to the path that leads to righteousness!
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. Psalm 51:12,13
THE SHADOW OF DEATH
My mother and father both died of cancer and all through my life until I was born again I feared the disease and death. Two years ago I was diagnosed with high grade bladder cancer and from the time I woke up from the biopsy until the Lord healed me I had no fear!
It was amazing grace all during my two week stay in the hospital and through the second procedure I had no fear because I knew for certain that He was with me! The shadow of death is an apparition, a supernatural appearance by a spirit of fear! For the believer there is no fear of death and the shadow of it can be removed by the presence of God's love and care for us!
Fear not! The rod and Shepherd's staff of authority will comfort us as we traverse the valley and with God there are no shadows except His in which we stand. He is light and deliverance for us who believe! Praise be to God!
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:5,6
