Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob (Israel) is our refuge. Psalm 46:10,11
Did your parents ever say to you, "Be still!" when you were being fidgety or rowdy and they wanted to speak to you? So it is with God, he desires earnestly to speak to His children but we won't be still! As it says in Psalm 23 He leads us into green pastures and beside still waters, the green pasture being His word and the still water is because rushing water startles the sheep so that they cannot drink.
If you have developed a quiet time with God you understand that listening is the bigger part of your commune with the Most High and He doesn't speak when we are in turmoil or chaos or in a hurry to hear! The world is in an uproar and people are addicted to and distracted by technology, with their hand held this and that and their selfie sticks, they couldn't hear God if their life depended on it, but the truth of the matter is this: "Our life does depend on our ability to hear what our heavenly Father is saying!"
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Psalm 46:1-3
To know God is to hear Him, and to hear Him one must be still and quiet, listening for that still small voice of Holy Spirit's gentle touch. We are in one of the most dangerous times in the history of the world, enthralled in a deadly spiritual battle with the powers of darkness and it is imperative that we hear the commands of the Captain of the Host!
As the scripture states, "God is our refuge, a very present help in trouble." The question asked is: Have you ever seen this much trouble in the earth before? No, because we are the terminal generation, the last living expression of the Lord Jesus Christ in the earth and we must be His representatives and ambassadors to a fallen world in need of salvation. With this in mind, the fact that we are the only life guards on the planet able to save the multitudes from drowning in the vast ocean of humanity, we had better be still and know who our God is and be about His business, for the time of His return is nearer than you think!
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. (Us!) God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved, God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. (the darkest time of the night) Psalm 46:4,5 What are you waiting for? Dive in!

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
When our physical bodies grow hungry we eat and when filled, we are satisfied, not so with spiritual hunger. As the scripture states, we hunger and thirst and are filled, but never satisfied, only longing to seek more!
To a lost person the word of God is a dry and dusty book, full of archaic rules and regulations, something no one would ever hunger for, but to those of us who are born again it is our spiritual nourishment that sustains us.
Many today claim the Christian faith and go to church but never open their Bible except in times of trouble, then they seek the comfort of the scriptures as if it is a book only for emergencies! If someone claims to be a believer but has no hunger for the milk of God's word I would doubt he really is saved!
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. I Peter 2:2,3
No spiritual birth, no hunger and just as a newborn human baby is born, he immediately wants to eat, so it is with the spiritual born again baby, a spiritual hunger is longing to be filled. If you know Him you want more, never satisfied with the crumbs of others, given out in endless services by men who have no hunger themselves.
As the merchant in the parable seeking beautiful pearls, who when found one of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it, so it ought to be with us, giving all for the riches and treasure of God's kingdom! This world is perishing before our very eyes and the riches it contains will someday burn up, even as the earth will succumb to heavenly fire!
If you are dry and dusty with no spiritual hunger, repent, because if you are a believer something has captivated you and your heart has gone after other things. Remember the parable of the sower where the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches, as thorns, choke the word and the spiritual life right out of you!
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law (Word) of the Lord and in His word he meditates day and night. He shall be a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth fruit (fruit of the Spirit) in its season. Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3
