"The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." Matthew 13:44

When God created the world and framed the universe He gave man a command and said: "Be fruitful and multiply." The parable of the sower is a simple story given by the Lord Jesus to illustrate to us His great commission to reap a harvest for His newly founded kingdom!

The greatest mission in all the world is to sow the seed of the gospel of Jesus Christ into the hearts of those who would become His sons and daughters. The body of Christ is responsible to take the seed of the word of God and to make disciples of Christ, not only to fill His kingdom but to build a livng temple of blood bought believers. Jesus was the first seed, planted in the ground and grew up into a vine that would ultimately fill the earth with His branches!

Like the man who found treasure in the field and for joy he sold all that he had in order to reap the benefits of the harvest which are the souls of men, the only treasure to be taken from the planet. These are the precious treasure of those who were saved and discipled by His laborers in this last great harvest. The jewels that will fill our crowns in eternity will be those whom we have rescued from damnation through the sowing of the seed of Heaven!

"To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that 'Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.' " Luke 8:10

Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow. "And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them." Matthew 13:3,4

The mystery of the soil is the condition of one's heart to receive the Word of God. In the natural, the soil must be prepared in order to plant a crop and many things must be done for the seed to be able to grow into a plant. Jesus was speaking to a nation of farmers who knew how to prepare the soil, but today many don't have a clue what this parable or any of them for that matter mean in regards to spiritual things.

The wayside is that place outside the field normally where equipment is brought to the field or a road giving access to the farmer to plant. Normally it is very hard being constantly driven on and weather beaten and is not conducive for planting, so when the seed is sown close to the wayside many seeds land on this unprepared surface and consequently the birds come and eat the seed. This is likened to a man who hears the Word but doesn't have spiritual ears to hear and so the devil steals it from his heart before it can take root and grow.

The birds of the air refer in scripture in many places as a type and shadow of the powers of darkness and whenever the Word is sown they come to rob, kill and destroy whenever the opportunity is given. There are many today living in the wayside, attending church, doing good deeds but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Good upstanding folks but deprived of the ability to hear spiritual things.

"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside." Matthew 13:19

"Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of soil. "But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away." Matthew 13:6

You can't plant a garden on concrete, neither can the seed of the Word survive in a heart that has not been prepared for planting. Plants have to take root in order to grow and be able to stand when the heat comes, or storm, or any other situation that involves perseverance. So it is with the believer, he must become rooted and grounded in the word of God to be able to stand when the fire of tribulation and trial come upon him.

The heart of man is the key issue in regards to salvation and spiritual growth and must be prepared and maintained through patience and trust in God's word. In order for a believer to grow he must spend quality time with the Lord in prayer and meditation seeking the face of God and finding His perfect will for his life. Salvation is not a quick fix for sinners to inherit the joys of Heaven, it is a new lifestyle in which the believer learns to live in a spiritual kingdom! Millions pray to receive Christ only to turn away when the heat gets turned up and quickly fall away, but still believe they are saved even though the seed within their heart died and left them empty with no hope of eternal life.

No seed, no growth, no Word, no spiritual life, it's that simple and yet people just don't seem to get it. Without the word of God sown into the heart nothing can ever grow and it doesn't matter how much you go to church or do good deeds, or say praise the Lord, without this spiritual plant growing in a heart of true faith it's a hopeless journey that leads to Hell!

"But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who  hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; "yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles." Matthew 13:20,21

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having been pardoned by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:9,10

Most people today think that if they are good moral upstanding, even church going folks that they will escape the wrath of God in Hell and enter eternal life. They believe that their good works will save them and that attending church every Sunday without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will somehow grant them entrance into the gates of Heaven.

Many will have a rude awakening as they plunge into the darkness down the very funnel of the pit of Hell into damnation forever! No escape, no more mercy, no more excuses or trying to justify their lifestyle, only torment and mourning, weeping and gnashing of teeth. Black darkness that can be felt, choking on the fumes and stench of rotting flesh and brimstone covered in molten sulfur.

If only they had listened to the Savior's call, "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest!" But no, they continued storing up earthly treasures being destitute of any spiritual wealth and without the Savior's love they perished without His grace destined for eternal punishment forever! If this is your life, no preparation for eternity, no treasure in Heaven, then do this, repent of your sins, cry out to God for mercy, receive the Savior's grace and surrender your life into His loving care and you will live forever!

For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert (distort) the gospel of Christ. Galatians 1:6,7

Good news! We now have two gospels, one for believers and one for those who make Jesus Lord. In other words one group has their ticket punched for Heaven and the other has made Jesus Lord by laying down their life and surrendering to His leading.

Man I sure am glad that some genius figured all of this out for us so now we can live any way we want and go to Heaven. Even the rich young ruler to whom Jesus said, "Sell all you possess, give it to the poor, and come follow Me," can come in too! Wow its amazing how smart folks are in these last days, after all Jesus doesn't wish any to perish (go to Hell) but for all to enter everlasting life, so He's making the narrow road, broad! I guess that's why they call it amazing!

Since the Bible is a buffet and we are free to pick and choose what we want and ignore the stuff we don't like, making Heaven is much easier for those who want to continue in sin. We can totally ignore the whole book of Romans, after all its nothing but dos and don'ts and thou shall nots. No more repentance, no more self discipline or self control, if it feels good, by all means do it! Everybody else is!

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Romans 6:1,2

I guess poor Jesus didn't mean what He said when He told those who wanted to follow Him to take up their cross ( a cruel instrument of death) and lay down their life to make Him Lord. New Creation- no! Crucified with Christ, oh heavens no! Baptized into death, no way! How about, pray a little prayer, sign a card, join up and show up, but only on Christmas and Easter, now your talking, everybody can do that!

I guess the greatest best selling author of all time was bored sitting in prison when he came up with: To whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Obedience? No way Jose, not in a million years, that sounds like some kind of bondage or a cult, not me, I'm free!

The modern so-called Christian is too intellectual for such nonsense, they want to look and act like the rest of the world, they wouldn't want to offend anyone or not be politically correct in everything they do, no talk of sacrifice or blood, or denial, after all, you might scare the poor sinners away, then who would cover our gigantic overhead?

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

Jesus said that in the last days there would be many false prophets, and to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing and we are right smack dab in the middle of the end times and yet we seem to ignore His and the apostle Paul's warnings. There is only one gospel and the truth of the word of God and the blood of Christ is the only thing that will make the sinner free from the bondage of sin and death.

No where in God's word does it give man freedom to walk in sin and continue in it because the outcome is always death. When one receives the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith and repents, (changes his ways, his mind, and turns away from sin) he becomes a new creation, a born again follower of Christ, laying down his old life and taking up his new life in Christ.

The gospel of the kingdom is the gospel of grace for all who would accept its conditions and adhere to its commands to become like the Lord Jesus Christ and die to sin and rebellion. To distort or to pervert the good news of God's glorious gospel will ultimately bring about judgment on anyone who preaches another way of salvation!

But even we or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8,9
