Love Your Enemies!
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your cheek, turn to him the other also. "If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. "And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. "Give to him who asks of you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. Matthew 5:38-45
In light of the recent proposed "Koran book burning" in Florida and the on- going war with illegal aliens crossing the border to rob the white man I am compelled to share this message from the Father. Love your enemies!
Contrary to popular belief, America is not the "New Jerusalem" nor the Christian Mecca, nor is it any longer a Christian nation. It is in fact a racist, bigoted warring juggernaut that justifies the killing of innocent people in the name of "In God we trust!" If the American people really trusted God they would not be at war, because that is not the nature of God, for God is love.
If you are claiming to be a Christian (Christ follower) your primary allegiance is not to America, but to the Kingdom of God. Christians who grew up in America have been brain washed into believing that we are to follow the evil pursuits and subsequent greed that America follows after. Don't get me wrong, I love freedom, McDonald's and apple pie as much as the next guy and I did serve this country in the Marine Corps, but my allegiance is to the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is absolutely appalling, the hate and bitterness spewing out of Christian emails toward Muslims, Mexicans, Gays and anyone else that doesn't look and act like them, and if that's not bad enough, the hate mail against your President in which the Bible says we are to pray for. The church has gone after the world and become just like them, full of poisonous rage and anger against those who Jesus died for.
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10
The Christian is an agent of the cross and we have been given the ministry of reconciliation, in other words we are representatives of God's family, sons of the kingdom, armed with the word of God and washed in the blood of Jesus to show mercy and kindness to those who hate us. If we were enemies and God had mercy on us, should we not show mercy to those who are our enemies? Jesus also said, "However you want to be treated, so treat others."
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness that have come to rob, kill and destroy, our war is not against our neighbors who we are to love and share the gospel of our kingdom with. Our enemies have no way to see Jesus but in us and the only way to God for them is to see the life of Jesus manifested in our lives. Would you come to God by someone yelling threats to you and throwing rocks at you, I think not, and that is why we are not seeing many saved in these days of lawlessness.
Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience. Romans 11:28-30
Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk as you have us as a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame- who set their mind on earthly things. Philippians 3:17-19
The people of God have their eyes on the world and the things of the world, John says that if that is so, the love of the Father is not in them. Our mission on this planet is to show God's love to a sin-sick world in need of a Savior and to give them the gospel of their salvation in order for them to receive the same mercy and grace that we received.
The cross is the central theme of Christianity and stands for one thing: to show mercy to those who have sinned and to allow them to be reconciled back to their heavenly Father by receiving the blood of His Son Jesus who laid down His life for us all. He didn't die for nice people, but for murderers, rapists, child molesters, serial killers, homosexuals and yes, you and me! Good people don't go to Heaven, only saved and forgiven people receive eternal life.
If you have been guilty of throwing rocks at sinners, repent and God will forgive you, ask God what He wants you to do, and to whom He wants you to show mercy to, if you don't forgive, He won't forgive you. Your ministry is to give His love away to those who are in desperate need of the same mercy that you have been freely given.
For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to himself. Philippians 3:20,21
