"If anyone does not abide (remain) in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they (powers of darkness) gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned." John 15:6

In my journey with Jesus over the years I have seen my share of people who came to the Lord but didn't abide in Him! The parable of the sower explains the different conditions of the heart that affect our living in His presence.

How many have you seen walk an isle, pray a prayer, join the church and they were even baptized, but in a few weeks or months they disappeared? I would say, millions! We had hundreds of people in our residential programs who for a year studied the word and professed to give their heart to Jesus, but when they walked back out in the world their Bible went in the trash. I saw the same in the prisons and jails, as long as they were a captive audience they looked like believers, but when the cell doors opened they were back in the world and all they had was "Jailhouse religion!"

To abide in the vine of Christ is to have a solid relationship with Him, washed in His blood, set free from sin and baptized in His Spirit, without which, you are just going through the rituals of dead religion. Millions of professing believers go to church once a week, they talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. Are you abiding in the Vine or just mouthing religious words, are you in love with Jesus or the world? The choice is yours to live in His presence or live in the lustful desires of your flesh!

"Now he who received seed (the word of God) among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and he becomes unfruitful." Matthew 13:22
