Just Like in the Days of Noah, The Flood Came and Took Them All Away

But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,'' and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Matthew 24: 37-39

Jesus was telling His disciples that in the end times people would be living as if there was no tomorrow, acting like they would live forever. When Noah received his commission to build the ark the world was in the same condition that it is today, people living in gross sin ignoring the signs of the times.

A few years ago on the news a young Jewish couple were married and were having their reception at a hotel in Jerusalem. The bride and groom as well as the guests were dancing in the second floor ballroom having the time of their life. Suddenly, without warning the floor collapsed and everyone fell screaming to the first floor, some to their death. I'll never forget the look on the bride's face as she felt the floor under her disappear and she and her new husband went crashing to the floor beneath.

So it is today, we are dancing through life without a thought about our eternal destination. The signs that Jesus told His disciples about are staring us in the face and we're acting like nothings wrong. In Noah's day people were unconcerned that he was building a gigantic boat in the desert , even preaching to them about God's judgment that was about to fall. I'm sure they mocked him in the same way as they do today, saying;'' God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life and He would never send judgment on anyone, only the devil would do something like that.''

Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying,''Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.'' For they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word , are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition [ destruction ] of ungodly men. 2Peter 3 : 3-7

There is a flood today of false teaching, self help teachers and false prophets polluting not only the people of God but unbelievers are made to think that if there is a God He is unconcerned about their lifestyle. God is mixed in with all the other gods and religions of the world and people are led to believe that He is no different than the others.

The Bible warns of seducing spirits and teachings of devils in the last days and that even God's elect could be deceived. Its bad enough that we have to worry about false brothers in the church when the media continually floods us with lust of all kinds from advertising to pornography. From every direction we are flooded with filth of all kinds to try and trap the minds of the unsuspecting.

The apostle Paul warned the Thessalonians to let no one deceive them by any means and he told them to beware of false signs and lying wonders and not to go after them for God would send upon them a strong delusion that they might believe a lie. That's pretty scary that if we are not careful to test these so-called men of God and their miracles that we could be deceived along with them.

God does not wish that any person perish, but that all would come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved. Jesus died and made a way for us to receive forgiveness through His blood by believing in His death, burial and resurrection by faith and repenting of our sins and making Him the Lord of our lives. God always gives man time to repent before judgment. Noah warned the people of impending judgment for years before the flood, but like today they didn't listen and every man, woman and child perished in the flood, not to mention all the animals on the earth.

The ark is a type of Jesus representing a refuge to trust in and to be protected from the storms of life. When God's people entered the ark the flood of God's righteous judgment destroyed everything in their past, old things passed away and everything became new. When the waters subsided and Noah and his family disembarked, God gave them a command to be fruitful and multiply, signifying the coming harvest.

In the book of Revelation it says that the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood that he might cause the church to be swept away with his words and that he was enraged with her and her offspring [us] that keep the commandments of God. And they overcame him by the blood of Jesus and the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives unto death. Praise God!

Now is the time to wake up, to be on the alert and put on the full armor of God so that you can withstand all the schemes of the devil and his angels of light. Be diligent to show yourselves approved to God as a workman handling accurately the word of truth, in other words, you had better study your Bible and know whats going on so you don't get your brains beat out. If something doesn't line up with God's word you had better pray and check it out before you believe it. Do not be deceived!

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and its works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire and the elements will melt with fervent heat?  2 Peter 3: 10-12
