Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life, both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you. Genesis 3:17-18

Adam's sin brought about a curse upon our livelihood where we no longer were provided by God's gracious hand, now having to labor for our own provision. Jesus reversed the curse by the blood shed from the crown of thorns!

Jesus suffered terrible mocking by the Roman soldiers having heard He proclaimed Himself a king. They twisted thorns together to make a crown and thrust it into His head making the blood run freely down from His forehead. Then they put a robe of purple on Him, a reed in His hand and then bowed down before Him, mocking Him and proclaiming Him King of the Jews!

Unbeknownst to the Romans and the devil who was rejoicing over the fact that he was going to kill the Lord Jesus, or so he thought, because Jesus Christ would lay down His own life for us and be resurrected as King of all kings and Lord of all!

And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying "Hail, King of the Jews!" Matthew 27:28,29
