He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted. Luke 4:18

Jesus sweat blood in the garden of Gethsemane under great stress having the sins of the world put upon Him and the cross ahead of Him, knowing the suffering He was about to endure. We have to remember Jesus was in a human body, able to feel all the pain and torment that anyone would feel in the natural.

I cant imagine the pain and suffering He endured for us to whom this punishment was due as He traversed what is now called the Via Dolorosa that means the way of grief! By the time He reached the cross He had endured untold pain and the stress on His heart would have killed any normal human being, but the love Jesus had for us kept Him going, being nailed to that rugged tree!

Because it was to be the Sabbath on the next day the bodies had to be taken down. The Romans broke the legs of the thieves next to Jesus and when they came to Him they thrust a spear into His heart yielding blood and water, a sign that His heart had literally ruptured because of the great stress He had endured for us. Because His heart was broken, our broken hearts are healed and restored! Praise be to God!

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. John 19:34,35
