And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8;28,29

Predestination is a doctrine that originated with John Calvin, a French theologian in the 1500's that basically says that God has chosen some for salvation and some for damnation! This has become a well known teaching that has divided the body of Christ and caused much confusion, being a doctrine of demons!

There are three key words in the scripture that define what God was saying that will clarify this teaching: the called, foreknew and predestined. First of all, everyone is called, secondly God foreknows everything, having given us a free will to choose and thirdly, we who have chosen Him are predestined to receive all the benefits and promises of God!

According to II Peter 3:9 God doesn't wish any to perish but for all to come to repentance. If that is true, then anyone choosing eternal life in Christ can come to repentance leading to their salvation, eliminating the idea that there was a certain elect predestined and chosen for eternal life!

Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called, whom He called, these He also justified (pardoned) and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:30
