Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

Buried in a watery grave, our old man is dead and the life we lived before Christ is gone forever. We are then resurrected to walk in newness of life, being transformed by the power of God; old things pass away and all things become new!

Within weeks of my conversion I started going to the local Baptist church and soon was baptized with about a hundred others as God was moving within this body of believers. Standing waist deep in Eagle Mountain lake facing the shore about to be baptized when the people on the bank, all of a sudden looked stunned as if Jesus was returning, but it was only "Crazy Leroy," an old acquaintance passing by in his boat, mooning the congregation!

I couldn't have expected a better send off from my old life than to have the devil give me a parting shot! From that day forward my life changed drastically as my old friends observed a hopeless addict transformed into a new creation before their very eyes!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17
