For I am not ashamed of the gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek. Romans 1:16

Jesus suffered and died for all of humanity, shedding His blood in seven specific places to give us a perfect and complete deliverance from sin, sickness and eternal damnation. The gospel is the good news of His death, burial and resurrection and for all who believe and repent, they will be saved.

There is salvation in no other god or religion, good works or goodness, but only by believing and receiving Christ's blood by faith can anyone be saved and set free from his sins. The gospel of Jesus Christ has many components, but faith that God exists and that He sent Jesus to die for us is the main point, that when preached, produces conviction of heart leading to repentance.

Thirty nine years ago, hopelessly addicted to cocaine and alcohol I was planning a half million dollar drug deal one night to end my woes and set me free, but God spoiled my plan. He sent a humble house painter to share the gospel with me and when he finished he said to me, "Do you believe God will save you tonight?" If anyone needed saving it was me and my answer was yes as I fell to my knees and asked God to save me! Praise God!

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Romans 1:17
