"It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.' " Luke 4:4

As we have seen in the previous message, Satan attacked Jesus with doubt when he said, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." Jesus then used His sword, the word of the living God to defeat him, knowing who He was and confident in that which He was given to defeat the devil!

In order for us to defeat the attacks of the powers of darkness we must always look to Jesus, our Model for guidance in spiritual warfare, and the author of our faith! Jesus is the "Forerunner" who has been tempted in all things, yet without sin and has defeated the devil. Spiritual war is a fact of our spiritual life, we can choose to ignore the devil and hope he flees, or we can stand firm and engage him in the Spirit.

As the apostle Paul said, "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God." The Word is our two edged sword to war against Satan, but to overcome, one must be proficient with it and be able to use it accurately because the devil knows it better than you!

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
