Identity Theft

Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17

With the advent of the Internet and the availability of personal information, identity theft has become a major crime wave around the world. No one is totally protected from this new scheme to steal someone's identity and assume their name and all their pertinent information.

Although this is a tragic situation for anyone who has been hacked and robbed of their own identity, what has happened to the church of Jesus Christ is much worse! In the last few generations the devil, through tradition, false teaching and doctrines of demons has stolen the believer's identity of who he is in Christ. In other words if an army was convinced they had no authority, weapons or ability to defeat their enemies they would be of no use, so it is with the body of Christ!

The most powerful entity in the world has been robbed of their identity of who they are and convinced that they are just old sinners saved by grace as they trudge off to another dead service of good intentions, while the devil ravishes the world. It would be like Superman rushing into a phone booth (although today he probably couldn't find one) to change into his famous red suit, only to find he had been robbed, stripped naked of his identity as the "Man of Steel!"

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. II Corinthians 5:21

That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. Colossians 1:10-12

God has qualified us through the blood of His Son to be saints and to partake of all the benefits of a divine inheritance. We as believers have been given all things that pertain to life, godliness and the supernatural manifestation of the kingdom of Heaven.

Although we have received this divine inheritance most never enjoy the benefit, being ignorant of what is legally theirs! It would be like your uncle who died and left you a billion dollars, his lawyer calls you and tells you to come down to his office and sign the papers and the money is yours, but it is too good to be true and so you ignore the call and never receive the benefit. Sounds simple, but it is true, most of the body of Christ has absolutely no clue about who they are or what they have inherited from their heavenly Father.

One of the greatest deceptions the devil has ever come up with is convincing the body of the living Christ that they are only orphaned beggars, with no rights, authority or power and they end up defeated, rejected and never fulfill their God-given destiny to expand His kingdom or to do the "Greater works" that Jesus told us we would do!

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of the power toward us who believe, according to His mighty power. Ephesians 1:17-19

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption (depravity) that is in the world through lust. II Peter 1:2-4

When Jesus began His ministry being baptized by John and filled with the Holy Spirit and hearing the voice of His Father say audibly, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased." Was there any doubt in His mind who He was? Then the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil for forty days and the first rattle out of the box from Satan was trying to get Jesus to doubt who He was!

Having not eaten in forty days His fast ended and the devil said to Him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." If, you say, there was absolutely no doubting who He was as He spoke the word of God and said to Satan, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.' " After His temptation in the wilderness He entered the synagogue and stood to read from the book of Isaiah where it prophesied of His ministry on earth, and as He finished He said to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." The people were at first astounded, only recognizing Him after the flesh as Joseph's son, but then they became infuriated at Him because He told them who He was in the Spirit!

So it is with us as sons of the living God, Satan will try to steal your spiritual identity by having you doubt who you are in Christ, usually by people who know you after the flesh. As Christ is, so are we, born again, washed in His blood, baptized into His death, filled with His Spirit and anointed to do the greater works of the kingdom by the divine authority of the Most High! His mission statement is our mission statement and we need to rise and defeat the powers of darkness and proceed to go into all the earth and fulfill our God-given destiny! So, who are you?

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18,19
