Fear Not, Part V
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7
For we who have been born again and filled with the Holy Spirit we have the mind of Christ. The word sound in the scripture means disciplined and self controlled, in other words we are to discipline our thought life and have the self control to fill our minds with the word of God and to meditate on the revelation that we receive from it.
The mind of man is the battlefield with which our spiritual wars are won and lost depending upon what we allow to dwell there. The devil, although it is said he cannot read our minds knows how to read our body language when he sends us fiery missiles to tempt us and draw us away from the Lord and His word. In order to discipline ones mind you have to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ which means you have to discern where each thought came from and from whom it came, in order to drive it out if it is not from God!
The helmet of salvation described in Ephesians 6:17 protects us from the fear, doubt and unbelief sent to defeat our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and encourages us, knowing who we are in Him and that we are not of this world, having supernatural weapons, divinely powerful to defeat the hoards of Hell! So, whats in your mind? Fear or faith, peace or doubt and unbelief? Fear not!
Set your mind on things above, and not on things of the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:2,3
