Faith, Hope & Love, Part IV
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Romans 8:24,25
Hope is not a "Crap shoot" in which we roll the dice of faith and maybe we will hit the jackpot! Hope is the expectation of our prayers being answered that we have offered up to God, standing on His promises. In the previous message Hebrews 11: 1 instructs us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
When we walk by faith, believing God and taking Him at His word we pray and then in hope we expect an answer to our request. In other words it is like target practice, we aim at a target and expect to hit it with accuracy every time and so it is with our prayer requests. We pray for a person to be healed and appropriate God's promise that by the stripes of Jesus we are healed and the person is healed. For many, hope is just firing your gun in the air and maybe by accident it will hit something, more than likely, your head!
We as the body of the living Lord Jesus have been given power of attorney to act on His behalf as ambassadors from another land, the kingdom of Heaven in which we are the very expression of Him in the earth. The world has no other God to seek for help, other than the One they see in us, Christ in us the hope of glory!
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified, and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:29,30
