Equipped to Serve Part XV
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
To be properly equipped to serve in the body of Christ one must be baptized in the Holy Spirit and empowered to do that which the Spirit leads with all signs, wonders and mighty powers! Jesus left us an example in His first assembly who were all filled and spoke in tongues where three thousand were saved that very morning.
Saved from a life of addiction I became a new creation in Christ and began seeking all that God had for me. Six months after my conversion I went to a revival in Indiana where one night the Holy Spirit fell upon the entire assembly and people began to weep and all I knew to do was go to the altar where I also began to weep uncontrollably on my face before the Lord. All of a sudden a golden cloud began to descend over the congregation and like someone turned down the volume on a radio everyone became silent and I was filled with God's Spirit, thinking if He didn't lift I would die, and a wonderful death it would have been!
As I regained my composure and sat up, peace permeated the place and the power of God was present for healing, deliverance and signs and wonders. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life! This little Baptist church who knew nothing of God's power suddenly was filled and anointed to be equipped to serve in His kingdom.
And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord. II Chronicles 7:2,3
