ON THE JOB TRAINING
Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ Luke 12:16-20
We will never know at what time we will die (unless we ask) and so we should live for Him as though it would be tonight! Would your life be any different if you knew the time of your departure? This is our life, to live for Him as if there would be no tomorrow!
This life is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow, so we have to make hay while the Son is shining and complete our work while on the earth. Our destiny is to do that which Holy Spirit has given us to do as His workers! Many are storing up treasure and building bigger houses, barns and bank accounts to store up their goods, but it can all end in an instant!
Several years ago I was reading a scripture in the psalms when I ran across David asking the Lord to make him know the end of his days so that he would know how frail he was, so I also asked the Lord and He said immediately, 2028! I will be 80 and now I know how much time I have to complete the work He has given me!
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. Psalm 139:14-16
