Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. I Corinthians 12:29-31
The body of Christ is so designed to operate just as the human body does with various parts doing what they were intended to do. The heart pumps blood sending oxygen throughout the body and the liver, kidneys, stomach and lungs as well as all of our organs are performing that which we need to live! The brain however, not so much because it mostly gets in the way of using spiritual gifts!
There are varieties of gifts given to each one in the body for edifying the members and the greater gifts are often given to the least of the members. As the apostle Paul stated, "If the whole body were an eye where would the hearing be?" Sadly today that's basically the way it is, the pastor is the eye, the head, CEO, prophet, minister and chaplain and the rest of the body is in a paralyzed state, and because of lack of use, it eventually shuts down and dies just as the human body does when it is dying!
The greatest enemy against the use of spiritual gifts in the assemblies is the clock! Do you set an alarm clock when making love to your spouse? So it is with God, throw it and the specifically designed program of three points and a poem out the window, it has destroyed the function of the church of Jesus Christ!
But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. I Corinthians 12:18-26
