For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge. Psalm 51:3,4

Confession cleanses the soul and prepares the way for the forgiveness of God. Confession is often times equated with repentance but it is not the same thing, repentance is the turning away from sin that brings about deliverance.

When one opens himself up to sin, a demon enters his soul and begins to destroy the person from the inside out just as a parasite would and also allows other demons to enter such as sickness, disease and infirmity. Demons are the righteous judgment of God! Remember David's father-in-law, King Saul who disobeyed God. The Holy Spirit was taken from him and an evil spirit was sent from God to torment him, which eventually led to his demise!

If demons are allowed to stay within a person without the confession and repentance of the person's sin, possession will be inevitable. This is why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The wrath of God (demons) comes upon the sons of disobedience.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
