Guard your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

The second open door to David's demise was carelessness, a dangerous trait to have adopted around a wild beast. Just as you wouldn't leave the door to your house open and unlocked you have to guard your heart from all intrusions.

David had many wounds that caused much trauma in his life beginning with the disdain of his brothers, the neglect of his father, Saul's pursuit to kill him and the drama of multiple wives. David was one wounded puppy, wide open to a full frontal attack by the enemy. Men don't equate a beautiful naked woman with a wild beast but that is exactly what Bathsheba was and unbeknownst to her she would take him down!

On the night of David's affair his heart was wide open, his armor on the ground and his sword in its sheath that left him defenseless to the charms of this beautiful seductress. Do you not think that Bathsheba didn't know David was watching her with lust welling up in his heart and she used all of her beauty to lure him into her trap set by the devil himself?

For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps lay hold of hell. Proverbs 5:3-5
