Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalm 51:12
I continued ministering at Greenbay for several years and Mary Ann and I got married and together we were asked by the Chaplain of the entire Tarrant County Jail to do Angel Tree for the inmates at Christmas! This was not the one with the Salvation Army it was through Prison Fellowship.
You have to understand what a daunting task this was to get the names of 4000 inmates and their children's names in order to give out gifts! At the same time, there are about 1000 people leaving and 1000 coming in per week, so it is a miraculous feat to accomplish but through the help and grace of God we pulled it off and many were blessed by it!
Our next-door opened in the parole department where we began working with ex-offenders coming out of prison and giving out food and personal care products as well as providing turkeys at Christmas. It wasn't long before we had great favor with the parole officers and the Director of the entire parole department! Then one day we were asked to make a visit to an ex-offender, a Vietnam veteran who in a fit of rage broke almost every bone in a man's body and the judge gave him 5 years flat! (When there is a flat after years you have to serve the entire sentence) They told me Cecil was suicidal and for me to go and see what I could do!
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to the Father." John 14:12
