God was restoring me and beginning to do a new thing in my life. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, going through a separation and divorce and I know now why God hates it so much!
For those of you contemplating an affair or a divorce, please don't go through with it, because no matter how much you try, your life will never be the same and although God will forgive you, the consequences of your sins of adultery will follow you to the grave! While I was going through this turmoil I went out to dinner with the directors of Teen Challenge, my former employer and was telling them what was transpiring and the director's wife looked me in the eye and said, "You don't know how many people you have hurt!"
Wait a minute lady, I thought to myself, this is all about me, what do you mean hurt others? Well, trust me, like ripples in a pond when you throw a rock into it, they go out forever, and believe me, many will be hurt and wounded by your actions! God forgave King David of his sins of adultery and murder, both of which carried the death sentence and then He said to him, "You have given an opportunity to your enemies!" David's life and mine were never the same and I am still suffering the consequences of my sins after some twenty-odd years!
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Psalm 51:7-9
