There is a way that seems right to a man, (or a woman) but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 16:25
You would think when someone is presented with the gospel that they would be overjoyed that God has made a way for us all to be saved, set free, and delivered from the wrath of God! But, it was amazing how many over the years rejected it, many for a cigarette, some for sex, and others for drugs and alcohol! Even going back to jail instead of being in a program that would change their lives!
One little girl, not in age but in stature was cute as a bug and even kept my grand-child, ended up leaving, involved herself in a three-way with her boyfriend and another girl, but became jealous and she and her lover bound, gagged and drowned the third party in a local lake and ended up in prison for murder! It simply boils down to this: unless someone is desperate to change their life there is not much hope for that person. Later in ministry when we dealt with men, a guy said to me that it depends on "How big is your want to?" In other words how bad do you want to change your life?
One of the first ladies to come into the program was a prostitute who I thought wanted to follow Jesus and change her life but decided one day she wanted heroin over the Lord and left. I pleaded with her and told her she would get AIDS if she shot up and sure enough the first needle she shared with a man gave her the deadly virus! I have kept up with her all these years, affectionately naming her "Hammerhead" and I got a call one day that she had been knifed and was in the hospital. I went down to see her and saw a gaping wound in her throat where a guy cut her with a roofing knife, but she recovered, eventually turning back to the Lord and is now married and serving God! She has had AIDS all of these years but with a cocktail of meds is still active and is as well as can be expected! Praise God!
Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man or woman who wanders from his or her place. Proverbs 27:8
