LOVE "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." Luke 6:45 Wesley was a different breed of cat, another Lake Worth hood, who also went down for killing a man in a knife fight. Everyone liked Wesley, especially the ladies, why, I will never know why they like evil men! The one's who liked him called him "Super Wes!" Ole Wesley was a fighter and would hit a man before he ever knew it was coming and maybe the only man I knew was going to Hell! Even when I was lost I had the ability to see past a man's behavior and was the "Last to let Wesley down!" Literally. Wesley had always said he wouldn't live past fifty and so it came to pass. One day I got a call on my car phone from Wesley asking me to marry he and a lady he had met and so I went over to her house and interviewed them knowing he was marrying her for her money! I agreed to marry them because I wanted to try and reach them along with my old drug dealer who was at the wedding. When I got there Wesley was so drunk he couldn't hardly stand up and as I led them in the vows when we got to the part about obey, the lady said, "I ain't gonna obey!" so we skipped that part and proceeded! Hardly a match made in Heaven! A year later the woman called and asked if I would do Wesley's funeral, come to find out she had taken out a large insurance policy, and her son shot Wesley in self-defense! When I arrived at the woman's house she told me that her son had an argument with Wesley in the upstairs bedroom and Wesley fired a shotgun at him and then came down the stairs after him and the boy unloaded a 9mm into him as you could still see the bullet holes in the wall, although there was no evidence of a shotgun blast, and a large bloodstain on the carpet where Wesley died, his last words, "I love you!" I ended up doing two funerals, one in the viewing room for his wife and one for his family who knew she had him killed! What a sad end to a life without God! "But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built his house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:49 Your servant in Christ, Timothy Laughlin |
