Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. I John 4:7,8
True agape love leads us to sacrifice our time, our money and our heart to those who are in need. Not just words or emotion, agape love goes much deeper, reaching into the very depths of our soul!
Thirty five years ago after teaching a Bible study on loving God and our neighbor, as I was driving home to a farm we had opened for ministry I pulled down to a stop sign and there was a man lying in the weeds, dirty and sunburned and looked as though he had been in the streets a long time. Immediately I turned on to the highway trying to ignore the man when the Holy Spirit spoke to me saying, "What were you just teaching?" Convicted, I went back around and picked him up!
It was about a 45 minute trip to the farm and I questioned the man about why he was in the streets, at the same time thinking about what I needed to do to help him. When I purposed in my heart to do whatever it took to help this man off the streets, as we turned on to the road to the farm he said, "Let me out!" He said he was scared being out so long, so I told him to go down to a men's mission a block down the highway and said I would be right back.
I went home, grabbed an armful of clothes and went back down to the mission and asked where the big man was and they said we haven't seen anyone and then it hit me, He was an angel sent to test my heart and shortly after that visitation we began a residential ministry for women! Glory!
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Hebrews 13:2
