Love never fails. I Corinthians 13:8

Those past few months took a toll on me having never been sick, but the grace that God gave me brought me through the storm! I am convinced that cancer is a curse and that sickness, disease and infirmity have all been healed at the cross of Christ!

After 42 years of following Jesus, I have learned many things and I am still learning! I know if we continue to seek His face, He will give us what we need in all of our circumstances. I don't understand why some get healed and others don't but there are many things to consider when you are believing God for your health!

The surgery went well, and I was released from the hospital the next day. The worst part of my ordeal was wearing a catheter for three months, I wouldn't wish that on anyone! In a couple of weeks, I went back to see what else would have to be done, because the cancer went from high grade to low grade. I was expecting chemo or radiation when the Doc came in and out of the clear blue he said to me, "I can't treat what you don't have!"Praise God, He healed me!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understandingwill guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7

Love endures all things. I Corinthians 13:7

Ever since my dad died of cancer in 1973 at age 63, I had been afraid of the disease but when I was saved in 1980, I no longer feared it! It was really strange that after my diagnosis the grace of God totally covered me, and I had no fear whatsoever, even one of the nurses said, "What's wrong with this guy?"

When it came time to see the urologist and find out what the prognosis would be he told me that he would remove the bladder, put a bag on me and I would be playing golf in no time as if he were changing a battery on a car! I said to myself, "No way!" So, I left and went for a second opinion, and I found a lady urologist at UTSW and she pulled up my diagnosis and showed me what I actually had, and scheduled me for a pet scan!

The doctor. then referred me to a Ukrainian doctor at UTSW in Dallas and so I got the pet scan and went to my appointment with the new Doc. After he reviewed my information he came in and said, "You have a 70% chance of saving your bladder and I immediately said to him, "Go for it!" I later found out that the new Ukrainian Doc was a wiz kid, a professor, and double boarded in two countries so I really felt like God was in control of my circumstances!

But God, Who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the age to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

Love believes all things, hopes all things. I Corinthians 13:7

I was admitted into the same hospital I was born in, and my mother and father died in so there was lots of history. My cardiologist put me in the cardiac ward where they hooked me up to an EKG and monitored my heart and then the urologist came in and told me that he was going to do the biopsy.

The urologist reminded me of George C. Scott as he was a grumpy old guy taking the place of my normal Doctor. The next day they took me to the OR where they were lined up to be operated on and then a little nurse came in and gave me a shot and it was lights out! The next thing I remember I woke up in excruciating pain and Mary Ann was standing there crying so I knew things were not good!

The old Dr. said he saw the cancer and it looked like an angry beast and the biopsy showed it to be high grade and would have to be removed. I was in the hospital for two weeks and then released to go home and refrain from any driving, lifting and strenuous exercise. My next doctor visit was to find out what would have to be done and the grace of God was surrounding me!

I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. Psalm 91:2,3

Love bears all things. I Corinthians 13:7

The love of God releases our burdens and lightens our heavy load, and the Word promises that He would never allow us to have more on us than we could withstand. His burden is light, and His grace enables us to overcome in all circumstances.

Three years ago, I was diagnosed with high grade bladder cancer. I had been bleeding heavily for days and one morning woke up and I had gained 20-30 pounds of fluid and was badly swollen. I went to the ER only to find out I had a liter of blood in my bladder and my kidneys had failed. The nurse said I would be on dialysis the rest of my life, so my wife and I prayed, and they admitted me to the hospital.

The next day they came up and ran tests on my kidneys and a few hours later the nurse came in and said they had to do it again.A few hours after that the kidney specialist arrived and said the numbers on my blood test were the highest they could be, from failed to like new! Praise God!

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:29,30

Love does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth. I Corinthians 13:6

Iniquity has many definitions in the Bible but to name a few it literally means: crookedness, perverseness, evil regarded as not straight or upright, to go astray, or an evil lifestyle! Today many live an iniquitous life unaware of God's displeasure as they continue to live in their sins and rebellion!

King David who was exposed by the prophet Nathan for committing adultery with Bathsheba was confessing his sin and stated that he was brought forth in iniquity and in sin, his mother conceived him. That is true because all have sinned and inherited the curse of sin and death from Adam!

We live in a society that revels in iniquity and rejoices in sin calling evil good and good evil but as the people of God, we are to rejoice in the truth of His Word that sets us free from sin and from the very iniquity that sends people to Hell! God forgave David for his iniquity although the consequences of his sin followed him to the grave!

Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow, make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Psalm 51:7-9

Love thinks no evil. I Corinthians 13:5

Our minds are reserved for God's word that purifies our thought life and speaks peace and tranquility to our heart! My Pastor used to say, "Garbage in, garbage out!" So, fill your mind with the garbage of the world and that is all you can expect to come out!

We as His body on the earth have the very mind of Christ, a mind that God approves rather than the mind of a beast that has a depraved mind! Satan has the mind of a beast full of evil and filth and so he is named, "The Lord of Flies!" This is why men's hearts are filled with evil because Satan is their Lord.

Psalm 1:2 instructs us to meditate on the Word day and night and the apostle Paul teaches us in II Corinthians 10:4-6 to inventory that which is in our mind by taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ! So, "What's in your mind?"

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

Love is not provoked. I Corinthians 13:5

Jesus was our example of love, being tortured, beaten, punched, crowned with thorns and crucified! Like a lamb He made no sound but took the punishment without being provoked! From the garden to the cross He was beaten beyond recognition!

God allowed His Son to be crushed as a sacrifice for our sins to whom the stroke was due! Jesus bore our sins in His body on the cross and shed His blood to wash away our sins, transgressions and iniquities! Never provoked or angered He took our punishment without a word even though He could have called down a legion of angels!

Jesus bled in seven specific places that healed our diseases and set us free to live in victory and overcome the powers of darkness! By His sacrifice we can live forever knowing that our sin was washed away, and the gates of Heaven's glory are opened to us who are born again! Praise the Lord!

He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. Isaiah 53:7

Love does not behave rudely and does not seek its own. I Corinthians 13:5

In my 42-year journey with Jesus I have visited a lot of churches, some were friendly, but some were also rude. There have been times when I entered a church that for the whole time of the service no one said hello or even acknowledged I was there! I was beginning to think I was invisible!

There have been other times I have been with preachers who were arrogant and rude to people thinking they were so much more spiritual and looked down on those who were not on their level. This is spiritual pride and it's a killer of true spirituality. Denomination is another enemy of the moving of God's Spirit when people don't accept the Jesus in you because you don't belong to their camp!

Let me be honest, "There is only One camp and it's called, the body of Christ!" If you don't belong to this camp, you are out in the cold! I preached one Sunday in a United Pentecostal church in Oklahoma and the moment I opened my New American Standard Bible it sounded like a machine gun going off as everyone slammed their Bibles shut because I wasn't using the holy King James Bible!

For when one says, 'I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I Corinthians 3:4,5

Love does not parade itself; it is not puffed up. I Corinthians 13:4

In ministry there is a temptation to become arrogant and show off what in actuality is God's, His gifts, miracles and even your ability to preach can become a prideful thing! Today many preachers have become "Superstars" selling millions of books and all kinds of merchandize that have made many of them multimillionaires!

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with having money as long as the money doesn't have you! Jesus was our example who performed great and mighty signs, wonders and miracles and for three years preached, healed and delivered thousands of people but at the end of His ministry there wasn't a "Chrystal Catedral," or a mega-church, only 120 sold out disciples waiting on the promise of His Holy Spirit.

The apostle Paul had every right to become prideful being a Pharisee, a Hebrew of Hebrews and a violent persecutor of the church, but when he met Jesus, he was knocked off his horse, blinded and humbled to become one of the greatest New Testament men of God! When one meets Jesus there is nothing on earth that compares with the mercy and grace received in a man's heart that brings about the humility of the Lord.

For we are the circumcision who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:3

Love does not envy. I Corinthians 13:4

Envy is the feeling of discontented or resentful longing, and I am pretty sure we have all at one time or another experienced this evil desire, especially during our youth! I don't remember envying a lot of folks except when I went to a meeting at my pastor's house not long after I was saved and there were some "Big Name" preachers there and that's what I wanted to be.

It wasn't long after I arrived that a man from Mobile, Alabama came up to me and introduced himself somehow knowing what God had in store for me. He said to me, let's go I want to show you something downtown and I said, "And leave all of these preachers?" He said, "Yes!" So, we drove downtown and behind one of the old buildings was a man living in a cardboard box. I don't think that was a coincidence because today forty years later we minister in a facility right across the street for Gays with AIDS!

That day the Lord took away any envy I might have had and gave me a new world view of how many less fortunate live in our cities and even now it has grown much worse! The man fromMobile moved to Ft. Worth and laid down his life to train me for one year in "Street Ministry" with no salary only Jesus, he moved his wife and kids here just for me!

Do not let your heart envy sinners but be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; for surely there is a hereafter and your hope will not ne cut off. Proverbs 23:17,18

Love suffers long and is kind. I Corinthians 13:4

Patience is a Godly virtue that many, myself included did not receive at birth, but throughout my journey with Jesus I have had many circumstances that gradually built within me the long-suffering nature of God!

That doesn't mean I have arrived yet but like the apostle Paul I keep pressing on trusting God to develop in me the Divine nature and character of the Most High! Life is hard sometimes and there are many ways God uses our life experiences to build within us His character qualities. Jesus, although fully God, was also fully human, but He made a way for us as our example in that He was tempted in all things but without sin!

It is amazing how much patience I have until I get behind the wheel of a car. Almost immediately I am tested by someone who is crawling along at 20 MPH in a 55 MPH zone or stopped at a light and then it changes and they are on their phone! Not so on the lake where people are so happy and kind, but when they get in their car another beast appears to again wreak havoc on the highway!

But may the God of all grace who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered awhile, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. I Peter 5:10,11

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. I Corinthians 13:1,2

After my salvation experience, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit at a revival and eventually spoke in tongues which I still do, and it is a valid gift for the church to have. I have seen miracles, the sick healed and even the dead raised in my journey, but I also understand that one's love can grow cold.

Many churches, although wanting to be like Jesus, isolate themselves and focus on the gifts of the Spirit, signs, wonders and the working of miracles but don't ever leave the building. Like little children they are excited about the gifts they have been given but forget why they were given! Jesus spent most of His ministry out among the poor, the needy and the sick, healing them and delivering them from demons and He taught His disciples what the agape love of God was all about!

Today however the churches have been so steeped in tradition and doctrine that they have forgotten their first love and have fallen into a spiritual coma, unaware of the needs of the world outside their doors who need the gospel of Jesus Christ to be saved. Jesus commissioned His church to GO! He told them that signs would follow them and that He would be with them!

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Mark 16:20

But wanting to justify himself, the lawyer said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luke 10:29

When one is born-again his whole world view changes from hating people, holding grudges and animosity toward those who have hurt you, to loving everyone as you would yourselves. This transformation of the inner man is an astounding miracle of grace!

As I was enjoying my "Honeymoon" with Jesus in the church, one morning He said to me, "Go to the streets!" He then led me to a family living in a bus by a river. This was my first experience helping folks and so I got them out of the woods and with the help of the local newspaper provided a home, furniture, clothes, food and a car. The night we moved them in I prayed for their daughter who had a high fever and God healed her immediately!

Keep in mind that you will be tested and tried as you reach out to help people because God desires to show His benevolent character and at the same time build patience and endurance in you! As it turned out the family was going to the flea market selling the things we gave them to buy beer and then demanded money from the church accusing me of stealing their filthy laundry that I paid to have cleaned! This was my first test but even though it didn't turn out as I had hoped I continued on! PTL

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self control, to self control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love. II Peter 1:5-7

And behold a certain lawyer stood up and tested Jesus, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?" So, he answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, 'and your neighbor as yourself.' " Luke 10:25-27

There are four types of love defined: storge or family love, eros, sexual or romantic love, philia, friendship love and agape love, a love that flows from God. God is love and He has loved the world that in turn the world would love Him and make Him Lord by faith!

Today the world is being destroyed by the powers of darkness with global economies being attacked, families torn apart with perversion, homosexuality and transgenderism being forced onour children! Lawlessness fills our streets with violence, murder, mass shootings and violent assaults on our citizens!

Innocent unborn children are being slaughtered by the millions, ripped to pieces, burned with heads crushed even up to birth and now beyond, where you can choose to murder your baby after it is born! A perverse generation of people polluted by socialist doctrine and deranged liberal women are ruling society with fear, rage and the threat of canceling you! So, what is the answer? "The AGAPE love of God!"

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. I John 4:18

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:17

The very next day after my salvation experience God performed the second miracle in my life by touching my tongue with the coals of heaven! Like Isaiah I was a man of unclean lips with a filthy mouth that spewed profanity, but that very next morning it was taken away and removed from my lips!

My third miracle other than the "New Creation Experience" was God setting me free from drugs! In a flash it was gone, the love of God delivered me and set me free from bondage and death so that I could serve Him with gladness and joy! My journey with Jesus was about to begin with signs, wonders and miracles following me!

Immediately I began to give my testimony to all of my friends and anyone I ran into with the message that God had set me free, and it wasn't long after that a friend who heard about my transformation gave me a Bible and invited me to the local Baptist church! Even though the church was steeped in Baptist doctrine it was a wonderful experience for me who as a kid asked my mother after returning from Sunday school with a neighbor, "What's all this God business?"

"Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts." Isaiah 6:5
