ON THE JOB TRAINING

When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8:1-3

God's word is His will, written for us to know what He has given us, but what is not written is to be known by the leading of His Spirit! In other words take healing for instance, it is written that He has healed all of our diseases and by His stripes we are healed. In the above mentioned scripture Jesus shows us His will for healing leprosy, "I am willing; be cleansed."

Now when it comes to the direction of our lives we are to ask for His will whether we are to move or get a job, marry or anything we need His wisdom in that has to do with our daily lives and the lives of our family! Obeying the leading of the Spirit takes time as we submit ourselves under the Lordship of Christ. Like newborn babes we have to learn to follow our Lord wherever He is leading us.

In order to be led by the Holy Spirit, one must have a solid relationship with God, communing daily in His word and in the Spirit listening for His still small voice and learning to discern His voice above all others.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. James 4:13-16

ON THE JOB TRAINING

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24,25

We are God's house, His temple and His abode in the earth and this house must be built on the solid rock of Christ, the Cornerstone of His Divine building! Many houses are built on the sand of tradition, denomination and doctrine and when the storms come they are washed away!

The body of the Lord Jesus Christ must have a solid foundation on the word of God, rooted and grounded in it, showing themselves approved to God as workman, handling accurately the word of truth! God's word is His will for us, His Divine instruction for life and Godliness, without which we would suffer great loss.

God's word is alive and is our life-boat in the storms of life, the trials and tribulations come to wash us away in a flood of fear, doubt and unbelief! When the disciples were in a boat in a storm, Jesus came to them walking on water and they were fearful until Peter asked the Lord if he could come to Him and when He said, "Come," Peter got out and walked on water, that is until he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at his circumstances!

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:26,27

ON THE JOB TRAINING

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13,14

Many today think that reciting the "Sinner's Prayer," being baptized and joining the church is all they have to do to inherit eternal life! Praying a prayer doesn't save us, being baptized doesn't save us and neither does joining the church!

The rich young ruler asked Jesus how he could have eternal life and Jesus didn't lead him in a prayer, instead He told him to lose his life and follow Him! Don't get me wrong when someone is under conviction by the Holy Spirit that he is lost, praying a prayer in an honest and good heart will save your soul. When asked 41 years ago if I thought God would save me, all I said was, "Yes!"

The key to eternal life is believing, acknowledging, receiving, repenting and submitting to the Lordship of Christ! This is the narrow way, by walking through the gate to life eternal and giving one's life to the Lord Jesus and by submitting to His perfect will for our lives! No one ever led anyone in a prayer to be saved in the New Testament, they were convicted by the Holy Spirit and repented of their sins and then were baptized in Jesus name!

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:21-23

ON THE JOB TRAINING

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:13,14

Salt and light, a seasoning that produces a taste for salvation and the light of God that attracts the sinner! Have you lost your flavor, or maybe you never had it, and is your divine light shining? Many today are just lost church members rotting away in a pew with no salt and no light, sitting in darkness!

Jesus spoke about the tares and the wheat, the tares look like wheat until the wheat bears fruit and then there is a distinction! So it is today, it is very rare to find any wheat in the fields of the world with millions of lost church folks who have portrayed discipleship as just showing up for service! The sheep and the goats!

A person who is truly born again can discern who is saved and who is lost by that which comes out of their mouth, either light or darkness, because both come from their heart! Are you full of light or full of darkness?

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22,23

ON THE JOB TRAINING

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11,12

Darkness is descending upon the whole world, including America where the gospel has been sent out for years, being a fortress for truth! Free speech is being attacked and persecution is coming whether we like it or not!

We as the people of God will have to traverse this attack from the powers of darkness sent to destroy the preaching and teaching of the gospel of our salvation. We have been comfortable and complacent for so long that when this darkness comes most will suffer great distress and tribulation not knowing what to do and many will fall away!

The apostle Paul told Timothy to preach the word, in season and out of season, in other words no matter how tough it gets, including the danger of losing your life, "Preach the Word!" We have the message of this life eternal and millions are approaching the very end of their life, sinking into eternal damnation!

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. ON THE JOB TRAINING

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. Matthew 4:18-22

Jesus called His twelve disciples, mostly common fishermen and took them along with Him into His "On the job" training program! They left all to become disciples and eventually apostles to be sent into all the world with His gospel of salvation, the most important job in the world!

It is amazing that these men immediately left all to follow someone they didn't know and gave up their livelihoods to become fishers of men! Family, home, children, wives and wealth to become no-body's for Jesus! Today in our sophisticated religious world of Sunday morning sermonettes and Starbucks coffee, leaving all to follow Jesus is considered downright foolish! This is why there is no power in the church, there are very few actual disciples of Christ!

Jesus didn't follow the dictates of dead religion by sticking the leadership of His "First Pentecostal Church" of signs and wonders in a temple of stone, but instead chose twelve living stones to become a living breathing supernatural expression of Himself to carry on Kingdom work in His stead!

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. ON THE JOB TRAINING

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is not a hobby or a Sunday school class once a week, it is a full time occupation. Likened to a marriage, it is the giving of one's heart to their spouse in a full time relationship of submission and trust.

I was in the Marine Corps Reserves for six years, once a month meetings, two weeks in the summer and prayed we wouldn't be called up! We were called weekend warriors! Discipleship is much more than that, you cant sit in a pew for an hour a week and expect to be a warrior for Christ! The most important part of being a disciple is to be led by the Holy Spirit!

The above mentioned scripture as well as the one at the bottom of the page is from Deuteronomy 30:14-19 quoted by the apostle Paul in Romans 10:8,9. This eventually turned into the "Sinner's Prayer" although it is watered down from the original text! So it is with discipleship, it has been portrayed as someone who has prayed the prayer and shows up once a week!

But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:14-19

ON THE JOB TRAINING

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:25,26

Do you work to live or live to work? Many live to work becoming workaholics! Others work to live and be able to minister as well, I have experienced both! The love of money is not the root of all evil, but it is definitely one of them.

After my salvation experience and being set free from drugs I became a tithing church member and before long I was prospering in the Lord. At this point in my life I should have gone into full-time ministry, but instead I went back into the equipment business which was a bad choice because it quickly had my heart! One morning I was praying in my office with my friend and mentor and all of a sudden the Lord came in and spoke to me!

He said to get in your car and drive, and I said, "Where?" He told me to go to an old cemetery in Aurora, Texas where I used to go when we skipped school. We pulled in and the wind was blowing the old sign over the gate with the words, "I am the resurrection and the life." from John 11:25. We stopped at an old brush arbor and he told me about Lazarus who when He called him out of the grave he was wrapped with grave clothes. He then told me I was wrapped with the deceitfulness of riches and the worries of the world!

He told me to choose this day whom I was going to serve and I said, "You Lord!" I drove back to the office where a Constable was waiting to serve me papers and I ended up going bankrupt for over a half million dollars! Needless to say, I went into the ministry!

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

ON THE JOB TRAINING

Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Luke 18:18-22

A young man asked Jesus how to obtain eternal life and He told him what to do and the lad said that he had done these things. Jesus had quoted the commandments of which no one has kept! But then He said to him, "Sell all and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come follow Me."

The rich boy became sorrowful when he heard that he would have to give his riches away because his wealth had his heart! Today if a wealthy man would ask most preachers this question they would have led them in a prayer, invited them to church and made them a deacon in charge of the finances! Discipleship is demanding and one cannot have anything in his life that would hold him captive, or create a stronghold that would capture his heart.

One morning years ago I was looking for property for a residential program with a millionaire friend of mine when he asked me why his church didn't put him over the finances, after all he was very successful? (Founder of Cash America) Before he could answer, he answered his own question telling me that he had given a very large donation to them with a stipulation that he would tell them how to spend it and then he said, "I guess I am over the finances!"

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. Luke 9:23,24

ON THE JOB TRAINING

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40

Disciple means one under the discipline of another and in our case, under the Lordship of Christ. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ today is no different than it was in His day, a person must submit and follow the Lord in everything!

Sounds a little cultish but discipleship is the reality of having a relationship with God and giving up ones life to please Him and submit oneself under His Lordship. Today however discipleship in many cases is just Sunday school or a bible study or a teaching series, not at all what Jesus intended for His body.

If we are honest about being a disciple we must look at the pattern that Jesus gives us in His word and obey its commands. Becoming a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest honor anyone can have, to be a follower of the One who loved us and died for us that we might share His life with others.

Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:47-49

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Luke 10:29

The answer to that question is: Everyone! Every person on the planet, including our enemies are our neighbors. To illustrate, Jesus told the lawyer about a good Samaritan who stopped to help someone who had been stripped and robbed, laying naked and bleeding in the road!

Today, most would pass this guy by and a couple of religious folks did just that, a priest and a Levite, probably had an important meeting to attend! But a Samaritan stopped and not only attended to his wounds but put him in an inn and paid for his entire recovery! This is how I began my ministry in the Lord by putting hopeless addicts in a Motel 6 on I-35 and casting the demons out of them, 40 years ago!

My first ministry was in the streets giving to any who were in need: drug addicts, prostitutes and the down and outers of this world that eventually led me into residential ministry! This is the ministry of the true church of Jesus Christ, laying down one's own life for another. This is the agape love Jesus was speaking of, loving your neighbor as yourself!

So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:36,37

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is the gift that keeps on giving and motivates us to not only be like Jesus but to do that which He did while on the earth! There are various forms of love: brotherly love, erotic love and emotional love which many times is just infatuation of the flesh that leads to a soul tie.

God's agape love supersedes all other forms of love and it is the most powerful gift there is and it will absolutely change your life and your spiritual worldview! Humans grow up holding grudges, unforgiveness and bitterness in a dog eat dog world where an eye for an eye is the norm, but when the Holy Spirit comes in with God's agape love all things become new and begin to change our minds and heart towards others!

Love is the key to eternal life, loving God with all of our heart, mind and soul and our neighbor is the highest form of love, without which we cannot be saved! Salvation is a love relationship with God and as it grows it empowers us to love others even as much as we love ourselves!

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” Luke 10:25-28

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. I Corinthians 12:29-31

The body of Christ is so designed to operate just as the human body does with various parts doing what they were intended to do. The heart pumps blood sending oxygen throughout the body and the liver, kidneys, stomach and lungs as well as all of our organs are performing that which we need to live! The brain however, not so much because it mostly gets in the way of using spiritual gifts!

There are varieties of gifts given to each one in the body for edifying the members and the greater gifts are often given to the least of the members. As the apostle Paul stated, "If the whole body were an eye where would the hearing be?" Sadly today that's basically the way it is, the pastor is the eye, the head, CEO, prophet, minister and chaplain and the rest of the body is in a paralyzed state, and because of lack of use, it eventually shuts down and dies just as the human body does when it is dying!

The greatest enemy against the use of spiritual gifts in the assemblies is the clock! Do you set an alarm clock when making love to your spouse? So it is with God, throw it and the specifically designed program of three points and a poem out the window, it has destroyed the function of the church of Jesus Christ!

But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. I Corinthians 12:18-26

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. I Corinthians 14:1

There are many self-proclaimed prophets in the world today, many of whom missed it on Trump winning the election! Now I know what you will say, he won but the election was stolen, maybe so, but the fact remains, he is not going to be in the White House for four more years!

Before you say, "Thus says the Lord!" You had better know without a doubt that God said it! Jesus warned that there would be many false prophets in the last days and so there are, so, does that mean we throw out the gift of prophecy? No, but we need to use the gift the way it was intended to be used!

I truly believe that prophecy should be practiced in the body within the assembly because it is the rudder of the gospel ship, without which the church would sail in circles and go off course! In other words God uses the prophets to speak to His body for direction, correction and edification! This is why there has to be other prophets to judge what is said and if it is not truth, correct it!

Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. I Corinthians 14:29-33

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order. I Corinthians 14:29

When we assemble together as a body all the gifts should be present so that everyone is edified and all can exercise their God given gifts! The problem is the pastor who in most churches is the supreme commander and keeper of the clock wont allow it!

Everything is neatly organized and kept orderly so that pastor can give his message and you can sit and listen. This is so wrong and has stifled the church for eons so that most bodies of believers become quadriplegic, never being able to participate in the operation of God's Holy plan for His saints!

We as God's people should be free to exercise our gifts and not be so shackled by some prideful and many times ignorant pastor who doesn't understand the operation of God's church! Because the "Divine Design" of the true church of Jesus Christ has been ignored, the body of Christ has been robbed of the glorious supernatural power of our awesome God!

How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. I Corinthians 14:26

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

To another the interpretation of tongues. I Corinthians 12:10

The apostle Paul gave instruction on the use of tongues in the church and for those who interpret. He told the Corinthian church to let two or three speak in tongues each in turn and let one interpret, but if there was no interpreter let them keep silent in the church!

In my forty year journey I have only seen this done a few times and less than that anyone doing it correctly. There just isn't a lot of teaching on the gift of tongues and one must utilize his faith in order to operate in this much needed gift! The church of the Lord Jesus Christ must have supernatural gifts of the Spirit operating in the body in order for them to be edified and energized!

Just because people don't understand the gift doesn't mean they reject it, it is a gift of God and an appointment in the church! Sadly, we have drifted away from the supernatural power of God and traded it for dead tradition, the doctrines of men and demons and the traditions of worldly men!

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. I Corinthians 12:28
