"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18,19

Jesus began His ministry as soon as the Holy Spirit had come upon Him, and He entered into a time of temptation from the devil in the wilderness! Without the power from on high He would not have been able to withstand the onslaught of the enemy! And neither can we, unless we are baptized in the Holy Spirit!

As Jesus was anointed, so are we, to do that which the Holy Spirit gives us to do, without which we would be helpless. The power from on high enables us to walk in the supernatural and gives us extraordinary strength and discernment to perform miraculous works of faith! When we are saved, we receive the Holy Spirit but when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit we are energized with supernatural power!

If you are indeed born again, but have not been baptized with the Holy Spirit, ask Him and receive the anointing to do the greater works of faith that Jesus promised we would do! In order to walk in power, you must be anointed with God's Holy Spirit!

John the Baptist said, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Luke 3:16

"Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

From chapter three of my book, "The Basics of Our Belief," we will see the foundation of all of Christianity and the power to move mountains, and change circumstances and impossible situations in our lives!

The mustard seed is the smallest of seeds and so is your faith until it is exercised and stretched to accomplish miraculous works and supernatural feats in Jesus' name! In the natural when you exercise your muscles they expand and grow stronger and so it is with your faith when you stretch it out and believe you will see the glory of God!

Jesus is our example and our mentor when it comes to walking in faith and seeing the impossible become possible. Walking on water, healing the sick, raising the dead and turning water into wine are all impossible in the natural, but Jesus said we would do even greater works than He! So, stretch out your faith and sow those mustard seeds to grow in your garden of supernatural works! "In Jesus Mighty Name!"

"And these signs will follow those who believe; in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover." Mark 16:17,18

John the baptist went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for remission of sins. Luke 3:3

If John the baptist walked into most churches today preaching repentance, he would likely scare the daylights out of the congregation with most running for the door! His message of repentance brought men to tears, baptizing only those who were truly repentant!

Multitudes were coming for John to baptize them in the Jordan when he cried out, "Brood of vipers!" Who warned you to flee from the wrath (Hell) to come? "Therefore, bear fruits worthy of repentance!" In John's day baptism had become another dead ritual like it is today, with preachers willing to dunk anyone who asks for it! What I said in the previous messages, conviction of sin is missing from our modern-day sugar-coated message with a watered-down version of the gospel!

Years ago, a young evangelist named Jonathan Edwards preached a fiery message, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God!" When people heard it they were brought down to their knees in torment and anguish of heart, grasping the support beams in the building so that they wouldn't slide into Hell! When was the last time you saw, or experienced true Holy Spirit conviction brought on by a gospel message? This is why multitudes in the modern-day church are lost, because they were never convicted of being guilty of breaking God's laws with a sentence of Hell on their lives!

I marvel that you are turning away soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from Heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-8

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is the word of faith which we preach); that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus (Jesus as Lord) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:8-10

This scripture was taken from Deuteronomy 30:11-20 and is an oath of loyalty and Lordship. It was the same scripture Jesus gave me in a graveyard years ago, exhorting me to make Him Lord and forsake the world!

The "Sinner's Prayer" was also derived from the above-referenced scripture which has become a deceptive tool in the church at times when one is taught to believe that by muttering a little prayer he is somehow transformed into a new creation in Christ! Remember there are two components necessary for salvation, conviction by the Holy Spirit and confession of sins!

When confronted by the "Rich Young Ruler" about salvation, Jesus told the lad that goodness and keeping the commandments couldn't get him there. He didn't lead him in a prayer as many preachers would have done, but He told him to sell all his possessions that held his heart and follow Him, something he wasn't willing to do.

I call Heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, (eternal) that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. Romans 1:16

Within the gospel are several components that are necessary for salvation. One is conviction, without which no one can confess they are a sinner. The night I was saved, even though I had no thought of being or even knowing what it meant to be saved, I was under the conviction that my life was a total trainwreck!

When asked if I believed God would save me, all I said was, "Yes!" I don't remember praying the sinner's prayer as if it held some magical spell for one to be saved, I just said, "Yes!" The main point of salvation and the gospel is to save mankind from their sins. In order to obtain eternal life, one must acknowledge that he is indeed a sinner.

A rich man approached Jesus and asked, "Good Master what shall I do in order to inherit eternal life? Jesus said, "No one is good but God!" Then He asked the lad if he knew the commandments, and he said he had kept them from his youth. Then Jesus said to him, "One thing you lack, sell your possessions and give to the poor and come follow Me!" The boy couldn't do it and left sorrowful.

Jesus said to His disciples, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" Mark 10:23

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9

Faith is the entrance to eternal life in Christ, without which, we would all perish! A free gift from God that will cost you everything if you truly lay down your life to follow Christ! To believe is the key to life eternal, by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Over forty years ago I believed when a man came to my home and told me about Jesus. A hopeless addict with a $2000.00 a week habit and an unquenchable thirst for alcohol, opiates, and grass! I was a mess at 33 years of age. A millionaire at 25 and cutting scrap metal at 33, I had ruined my life and was about to lose everything!

When this humble house painter entered my home, I was planning a drug deal that would end my financial woes and set me free, but God had other plans! I don't remember much about what he said except, "Do you believe God will save you tonight?" That hit me between the eyes if anyone needed saving it was me! I said yes and dropped to my knees and asked God to save me, and it felt as though a million pounds were lifted from my shoulders. I was "Born-Again!

"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1,2

This scripture reminds me of the millions who sit in the pew every Sunday for years while the race goes on right outside their doors! This is a sin that ensnares the body of Christ, intent to listen but not act on their faith, instead of relying on their pastor to do their work!

After sitting for five years, I couldn't sit any more because the Spirit was leading me into the streets to do that which He had called me to do! I learned all that I could and established a solid relationship with the Lord, something that is so important for the new Christian to do. Once I was free to move about in the Spirit God began to open many opportunities for the miraculous!

Since the lady with the immune deficiency was healed, I saw many others healed including a sweet lady who was living in her yard who I am still in contact withpraise God! All you have to do is show up and Holy Spirit will do the rest!

"If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there, 'and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.' " Matthew 17:20

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father." John 14:12

Jesus is our model for us to follow and to learn from in our journey of faith! Jesus promised us that we would do the works that He did and even greater ones because He has ascended to the very throne of His Father.

Early on in my walk, I was taught the word and by faith began to act upon it, believing it was alive and true! My very first miracle was the healing of a woman who had an immune deficiency and was allergic to almost everything she came in contact with. The day I met her she was a pitiful sight, emaciated, wearing only cotton clothes and a charcoal mask, she looked like a prisoner of war, and so she was, a prisoner of Satan!

After spending a couple of hours interviewing her and praying, I invited her over to our home the next Sunday and we got in the Word. We had people over wearing cologne and we had a Persian cat and a Doberman and any of these would have made her ill, but I noticed she wasn't bothered, and her mask was hanging down around her neck and God spoke! "Tell her to take off the mask I am going to heal her!"

I told her what God said and she took off the mask and immediately she was made well and that night she put on her makeup, her jewelry and went to a Bible study, and from that day she was healed! Praise be to God!

With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

Now in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to His disciples, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." Matthew 14:25-27

The disciples were in the middle of a tempest when Jesus came walking to them on the sea! Already scared to death, they were terrified when they saw Jesus, but He was about to illustrate to them faith with works!

Peter answered Jesus and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." Jesus said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and actually walked on water, the only known time in the history of the world that someone walked on water. But Peter began to take his eyes off of Jesus and looked at his circumstances as the waves and wind were swirling around him and he began to sink, and he cried out, "Lord save me!"

Even though Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and began to sink, he did in fact walk on water, something humanly impossible to do except by faith! God said that nothing would be impossible to those who believe!

Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:31

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works. James 2:17,18

The works of God are evident in that we have a universe and all things living on the planet! He exercised His faith by calling into existence things that did not exist and we live and breathe and have our being in His works!

Jesus performed many works of faith but many times He would ask those He was praying for to exhibit His works by saying to them, "Stretch out your hand, take up your pallet and walk, or rise and be healed!" Faith is validated by works! The old plumber turned preacher, Smith Wigglesworth had a close friend die and Smith went to the wake, not to pay his respects, but to raise him from the dead!

Imagine walking into the funeral home where family and friends were gathered and jerk the corpse out of the casket and in the name of Jesus he said, "Live!" The dead man fell to the floor and most at that point would have given up, not Smith, after three tries he walked out with him! Praise be to God!

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Faith is an actual substance with which all things are created. The entire universe was spoken into existence by faith when God framed the worlds by His prophetic utterance! Faith is the supernatural building block that not only creates but performs miracles, signs, and wonders that validate our supernatural existence in the world!

It was God's intent for man to be the perfect replica of Himself, living in a perfect place, free from evil, disease, and death. From the dust of the earth, man came and woman was created from man and both were given a will. The garden of Eden was a paradise of beauty and provision for the "First Family." Everything needed for life was there in abundance, God's plan for man to succeed in this newly created world.

Lucifer, God's angelic son was found to have pride in his heart as he was the most beautiful creation in Heaven, endowed with strength, wisdom, and knowledge. His cunning was unsurpassable in that he convinced one-third of the angels to rebel with him and take over Heaven. The plan failed and Michael the archangel and his angelic host threw the now defeated angel of death out, only to land in God's new creation!

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3

This next series of devotional teachings are taken from my soon-to-be-published book, (By faith) which I have been writing for the past few years about my life in the Spirit. "The Creative Power of Faith" is the way of life for the believer that enables him to overcome great obstacles and live victorious in the Spirit!

All of creation, the worlds, the entire universe and every living creature were all spoken into existence by God. In order for you to accept this as truth, you must believe. When one is born again from above, he receives a measure of faith, a tiny mustard seed to sow in the Spirit that as he exercises it, spiritual growth will appear!

Without faith, it is impossible to please God and without faith, there can be no spiritual life. I pray that this devotional teaching and my book will grow your faith and lead you into realms of the Spirit that are unseen to the world, but open and visible to the believer! May God give you light!

"If anyone desires to come after Me let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?" Luke 9:23-25

Shortly after I was saved I went back into the business world, selling equipment, doing auctions, and building up my own little kingdom. I became your average tithing church member, unconcerned with my true calling, instead of following after wealth and the things of the world!

One morning I was praying with a friend in my office when Jesus came through the front door, I couldn't see Him but I heard His voice in the Spirit, "Come with Me!" I said, "Where?" He told me to go to an old cemetery in Aurora, Texas where I used to go when I cut school. We pulled into the old graveyard and He proceeded to tell me about Lazarus when He called him out of the grave! He said Lazarus was bound with grave clothes and so was I, bound with the riches, cares, and worries of the world.

Then He said to me, "Choose this day whom you will serve! Life or death!" I said, "Life!" We then went back to the office and there was a constable waiting there to serve me papers for my half-million-dollar debts from my drug-addicted days. I ended up going bankrupt, losing everything but gaining life in the Spirit! From that time on I followed Jesus!

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels." Luke 9:26

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. I Corinthians 2:12

What has been given to us who have received the Holy Spirit is all the creative wisdom of God, His unfathomable knowledge, and His ability to call those things that do not exist into existence. Meditate on that for a minute, all that God is was given to us through His Spirit!

Un-limited power, wisdom, knowledge and strength, the gifts of His Spirit, and supernatural discernment of the spiritual world. We as born-again new creations in Christ are a supernatural race of spiritual men and women called to represent God in the earth! Ambassadors from an unseen world, hidden from the eyes of natural men!

If the body of Christ will ever realize their God-given supernatural ability, the world as we know it would be transformed into the Kingdom of God! Instead of a dead and lifeless people steeped in religious tradition and the doctrines of men and demons, the church would look and act like Jesus!

But the natural (carnal, fleshly) man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:14

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

The world speaks of brainwashing people to believe whatever they are promoting such as that which is happening now in America with teachers cramming CRT down the throats of our students! The word of God on the other hand speaks of heart-washing. In other words, we are transformed by the blood of Jesus that cleansed our hearts to believe and receive the mind of Christ!

Before I was saved my thoughts were all about me, consumed with lusts and pleasures, money, greed, and selfishness! Thirty-three years of pollution from the world was gradually washed out by the word of God and replaced with mercy, grace and peace. My mind was different in that I began to think like Jesus! So, what does Jesus think about?

Jesus thinks of others, helping, healing, delivering, and transforming others! For out of the heart, the mouth speaks! Jesus preached and taught that man should love God with all of their heart and love their neighbor as much as they love themselves!

Let each of you look out not only for your own interests but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:4,5
