Counting It All Joy, Part V
Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:2
We as born again believers are diamonds in the rough when we begin our journey with the Lord and the process of making us into beautiful gems in His hands is a lifelong task. Diamonds are one of nature's hardest stones and when taken from the mines they are dull and have a rough exterior.
Each stone must then be polished through a series of steps, and when the process is complete there is a beautiful diamond. So it is with us, God has to smooth out our rough edges in order to make us into His gemstones through trials and tests that will ultimately produce patience and endurance in us. There was a lady one time who asked a silversmith about the process of purifying silver and he told her that the metal had to be heated with intense heat to bring the dross up to the surface and purify the silver. She asked him how he knew when the process was complete and he said to her, "When I can see my image in it!"
So, in conclusion when you encounter these strange trials and fiery situations, count it all joy knowing that God is at work in your life, making you into His own special treasure. Although for a moment that seems to never end, the process of transformation is creating an eternal weight of glory for us in the Kingdom of God.
For our light affliction, which is for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:17,18
