Counting It All Joy, Part I

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:2,3

It is inevitable that we will encounter various trials and tests as we traverse the spiritual journey that we have chosen and to count these trials joy is a test in itself. The joy of the Lord, as the scripture states in Nehemiah 8: 10 is our strength and as we endure these various things that come into our life to test our faith, the joy of knowing Who we belong to sustains us.

Joy is defined in the New Testament scripture as being calmly happy, well off, a calm delight or a sense of well being that comes from a solid relationship with God, knowing that He loves us and will take care of us in whatever situation that arises in our lives. Joy and peace are products of our faith in the Lord to provide all of our needs even in the midst of all the storms that try and blow us off course. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers us out of them all!

Living in the natural world as believers is a trial full of temptations that come to buffet us and test what we are made of, some we fail, and others we have victory over, but our confidence is always in the Lord's ability to save us and deliver us from every situation.

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." John 16:33
