"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?" Matthew 6:25

Worry involves fear, doubt and unbelief. Fear, that God won't come through, doubt, that He doesn't care and unbelief, a lack of faith. If you are a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ you need to gain the victory over these enemies of faith!

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind as the scripture states! Power to defeat our enemy, love to conquer fear because its His battle, and lastly, a sound mind, one filled with God's word, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ! Worry is an enemy that will rob you of your joy and peace and will deplete your strength because the joy of the Lord is your strength!

In order to defeat these enemies of faith you will have to submit yourself totally under the care and provision of God. Your trust will have to be in Him and you will have to rely on the leading of His Spirit to direct all your paths. You cant serve two masters, either serve God or serve yourself in the world on the broad road to destruction!

"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature." Matthew 6:26,27

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:33,34

It took me a long time to trust God completely and not worry about tomorrow because we have grown up, taught to worry about our worldly affairs. It comes with the territory of self-sufficiency and the American way of "Get all you can, and can all you get!" Storing up treasure is a way of life, trusting in our own strength and our ability to provide for ourselves.

What does it mean to seek His kingdom, is this a place we are seeking or the Person who rules over it? I would say, The Person who is King of His kingdom is He who we should seek. Problem is, we are too busy worrying about the affairs of this life to spend much time seeking something or Someone we cannot see!

In the story of Jesus coming to Martha and Mary's home, Martha was distracted by her many duties and much serving for the guests while her sister Mary sat at the feet of Jesus. Being agitated by her sister's devotion, she complained to Jesus to have Him make Mary help her, but He said to her that she was worried and troubled by many things. Even within the church there is much busyness, preparation and programs of all kinds, that in many cases distract us from seeking the face of Jesus!

"Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. "But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part which will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:41,42

"Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses." Luke 12:15

In this parable Jesus tells the story of a certain rich man whose land yielded plentifully and he thought to himself, what shall I do since I have no room to store my crops, so he said, "I will pull down my barns and build greater and there I will store all my crops and my goods."

Then the rich man said, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink and be merry, but God said, "You fool, this night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?" "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God!"

My father was a workaholic who built a successful business, leaving a multi-million dollar inheritance to me and my brother. When he died everything he owned was debt free with thousands in the bank and seven and a half acres of prime industrial lease property. He was a good man although he didn't know the Lord his intention was to leave his sons a livelihood of which I squandered mine on drugs. All that work down the proverbial drain, given back to the devil!

"If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith. "And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. "For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. "But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you." Luke 12:28-31
