Where there is no prophetic revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18
The prophets of God in the Old Testament kept His people on the narrow path of spiritual life by speaking out against sin and rebellion thereby holding up the plumb-line of His word so that Israel would not defect from His will. Today it seems we have lost all prophetic insight which is able to convict the body of Christ and direct our paths by the revealing of God's word to His people. Because of a lack of true prophetic revelation the church has veered off course by running aground on the rocks of: if it feels good, do it!
The charts have been ignored and the course has been lost so that the body of Christ ends up sailing the seas of hopelessness like a ship without a rudder! No conviction, no vision and no reason to restrain themselves, they throw caution to the wind, and like a wild beast in heat they rush headlong into complacency which leads them into sin and they defect from the will of God by pursuing their own pleasures. The prophetic revelation insures that the whole body of Christ will know and understand what God has intended for them and can effectively lead them into all truth. Prophecy is necessary for the people of God to understand God's plan and course for their spiritual development and well being.
It is time for the people of God to re-dig the wells of prophetic revelation and allow those gifted to speak out in faith and restore the office of prophet which is by the way, second in the ministry register of the church as stated in I Corinthians 12:28. In these last days we have been drawn away from the truth of the revealed word of God because of ignorant leadership, untrained and un-tempered in the things of God, novices, devoid of the true rhema of Holy Spirit's voice and have led the body into total spiritual darkness by polluting their minds with the traditions of men, dead rituals, doctrines of demons and worldly pursuits!
Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I Corinthians 14:1-4
WHO DO MEN SAY THAT I AM?
Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Matthew 16:16
Jesus asked His disciples who men said that He was and they answered and said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." And then Jesus asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" They didn't seem to have a clue who they had left all for, and had been following until Peter received a divine revelation directly from the throne of God and said, "Your are the Christ!" Without prophetic revelation one cannot discern spiritual things or even come to know Jesus as their Savior unless it is granted them from the throne by Holy Spirit.
Prophecy is saying what God says by men moved by Holy Spirit's promptings, it is God's voice to His body that conveys direction, vision and reveals His divine plan for His people. Without a prophetic voice the people of God wander aimlessly like a flock of deaf, dumb and blind sheep that ultimately end up as prey for their adversary the devil! Today in the church prophecy is frowned upon by the modern day politically correct crowd of man-pleasing shepherds who don't want to rock the boat or run off any big tithers by exposing their sin. If anyone would dare to stand and speak God's word in a service and disrupt the flow of some wind-bag preacher's sugarcoated sermonette he would be dragged out by the deacons and expelled from the assembly.
Imagine John the Baptist or Jeremiah, Isaiah or the prophet Samuel, not to mention the Lord Himself entering one of our neat little orchestrated Sunday morning services with everyone comfortable in their padded pews of complacency, sipping their freshly brewed Starbucks coffee when one of these powerful men of God begins to speak out in faith against the sins, rebellion and apathetic deeds of a totally back-slidden bunch who have no desire to follow Jesus or to obey His word. It would be total devastation, the police would be called, while most of the worldly congregation scrambled for the doors to escape the wrath of these holy men of God! For those who truly desire to follow Jesus I suggest you read the prophets of the Old Testament and experience firsthand what they said to Israel, God's chosen and how they responded to their message, most were killed or driven out and scorned for daring to speak God's word to His people! Even in the New Testament God's prophets and apostles were killed for speaking out, and they crucified the Lord Jesus who came to save them from their sins!
Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak in tongues, and there come in those uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you. I Corinthians 14:23-25
THE HOUSE OF ELI
Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; and there was no widespread revelation. I Samuel 3:1
The house of Eli represented a priesthood that was fat, lazy, blind and totally absent of the Spirit and that was the reason there was very little revelation in Israel at that time. Eli was old and would not deal with his sons who were stealing the offerings of the Lord, bedding the temple prostitutes and were lost and vile in heart, so much so that God wanted to kill them. So it is today for the most part, greedy preachers and pastors stealing the offerings of the Lord and living like kings while God's people are starving for a word of revelation from the Most High!
Samuel on the other hand represents the true priesthood of God, totally given to the Lord as a living sacrifice, dedicated to speak God's word with boldness and power under the true anointing without compromise. As a mere child his first prophetic utterance was to tell Eli that his house would be cursed forever, his sons would die and the glory and presence of God would depart from Israel. All of these things came to pass and Samuel became priest and prophet to Israel even eventually anointing Saul as king and then later David who would become the true monarch of Israel after Saul refused to obey the word of the Lord. Without a powerful move of God today to raise up true prophets and apostles the church will continue to languish under the control of blind shepherds devoid of the truth that is able to set the people of God free!
If you are a born again Spirit filled believer, washed in the blood of the Lamb of God then you are gifted and anointed to be a royal priest of the house of God. As a royal priesthood we are to operate under the divine control and leading of Holy Spirit to fulfill our destiny in the earth to proclaim the truth to all of mankind and to make true disciples in the likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ in us is the world's only hope of seeing the glory of God on earth as it is in Heaven and as His ambassadors we are to boldly proclaim His word to a lost and dying sin-sick world. The only Savior the world will ever see is in us to be freely given to those who would trust in Him for salvation, repent and become a disciple of the Lord Jesus in the kingdom of God on earth. If you are in bondage to a dead religious system held by guilt and false submission to a brood of worldly men who are building their own kingdoms, then cry out to God and escape and He will welcome you into the glory and presence of true discipleship!
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. I Peter 2:9.10
