As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. I Peter 2:2

As a kid growing up I remember my dad loved liver and onions, something I myself hated, along with some other nasty vegetables such as beets! But if you wanted to eat in our house you ate what my mother served and that was it.

So it is with acquiring a taste for the word of God, to many it is like liver and onions, something they don't want to eat because they don't like how it tastes, after all its just a book full of rules, regulations and laws that make for a boring read! In our men's group the other night we discussed this very thing, how to acquire a taste for God. Many today in the body of Christ don't have an intimate time to commune, study or pray to the Lord, only satisfied to attend church once a week to hear a warm fuzzy message and that seems to satisfy their spiritual hunger, but unbeknownst to them, they are starving themselves to death!

I remember the first beer I ever drank, stolen from the refrigerator while my mother was out and it was nasty, but as I made myself drink it and eventually I acquired a taste for it. So it is with the word of God, once you have tasted that the Lord is good and that there is buried treasure put there for you to find and enjoy, you also will acquire a taste for God, His word and His presence!

"Again the kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." Matthew 13:44
