"I have been crucified with Christ, It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
Millions will go to church this Easter Sunday, many who have not darkened the door of one in a year to tip their hat to God, as if He would be pleased by their visit! Its true, many don't go to church but twice a year, at Christmas to worship a baby Jesus and Easter to worship a crucified Christ, without ever understanding the importance of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and how it relates to us as believers.
While most will become emotional and teary eyed by all the passion plays and pageantry that hopefully will lead them down an isle to pray a prayer and join the church, it is a horrible deception that originated from years of tradition and dead ritual, leading millions to Hell! The truth of the matter is this: are you willing to die for Him as He died for you, by crucifixion? Believers in Christ must be crucified with Him and buried with Him through baptism just as He was for us! To know Him is to die and to live for Him is death to the fleshly man.
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Romans 6:5-7
Cursed with the sins of all of mankind placed upon Him, nailed to a cross and forsaken, the Lamb of God was sacrificed for us in whom the crucifixion was do! It was for our sin that He suffered on the tree and bled out in agony and excruciating pain, all for humanity to be freed from their sins. Jesus died on that cross a man, was buried a man, but rose as the first "New Man," a spiritual man who would be the example for us all, and firstborn from above! We were also crucified with Him as it was for our sin that He died and we are buried through baptism to be raised in newness of life as spiritual beings, freed from the bonds of our sins!
Most will never see the true significance of what the Lord Jesus Christ did for all of mankind by the sacrifice of His life for us. As they attend the frenzied Easter services, hear an historical account of something that happened eons ago, send their children out to perform ancient pagan fertility rites, hunting eggs and then go to lunch and eat ham, something offensive to a Jew and miss the whole point of the death, burial and resurrection of the King of all kings! What a travesty to celebrate the greatest act of mercy ever in the history of the earth by attending a dead ritualistic funeral service for a Savior who died for them and never come to the knowledge of the truth of His death that was meant for us!
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
