"Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12
Everywhere you look, on TV, the nightly news or on social media, someone is knocking someone or something because they either don't agree with them or simply don't like them. Even in the Presidential race where you would think that people would be civil, they are verbally killing one another.
Donald Trump is the poster child for bashing people and assaulting their character and their reputations and people absolutely love it, the stuff movies are made of and it only gets worse. Trump is leading in the poles almost exclusively because he attacks his opponents by defaming them, claiming that he has all the answers and they don't. This political tactic is also being used by the other candidates and is fueling a media frenzy! Elections are won or lost simply by what you can convince the masses to believe.
Even the evangelical church of the Lord Jesus Christ has been caught up in this un-civil conflict, railing against the President and anyone else who doesn't share their beliefs, and it is contagious because of the availability of media, via the Internet, TV and a multitude of hand held electronic devices. Don't get me wrong I have been caught up in it too until the Holy Spirit's conviction comes upon me, urging me to repent of such unbecoming behavior. The other night on the debate the commentator asked Carly Fiorina about Trump's comment about her face and you could almost see the tears well up in her eyes as she was obviously deeply hurt by his accusations.
"But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful." Luke 6:35-36
THE DEVIL'S WORKSHOP
"Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive and you shall be forgiven." Luke 6:37
There is an old saying, one my mother used to quote to me, "An idle mind is the devil's workshop" and she was certainly right because idleness causes us to seek that which many times fuels evil desires, lusts and hateful thoughts against our fellow man. Facebook is one such workshop that fuels the flames of defamation, condemnation and is down-right mean at times, even spreading its flames of hate on anyone that people have judged to deserve it. (See note at bottom of page!)
We are told in scripture not to judge or condemn and to forgive even when people don't deserve it, just as we were forgiven of all our sins by the Lord Jesus when He died for us on the cross! One of America's biggest problems in this department is the news media that judges who they will without facts, condemns any that they deem deserving or will sell ads, and indict innocent people without ever recanting their accusations when found to be false. We have all seen it on the news, a mug shot of someone who looks guilty and if he looks guilty, he must be! I thought we were innocent until proven guilty in the courts of America, apparently not any more!
This media frenzy has gotten totally out of control, even bringing back a resurgence of race related incidents where blacks have shot whites and cops have shot blacks and so on and so forth until there is a media firestorm of accusations threatening another un-civil war in the streets. When will the news media be locked out of the courtrooms and be stopped and made accountable for their actions and false accusations? Free speech doesn't mean you can slander and defame people in order to sell ads on TV, in many cases ruining people's lives by their judgments, and even effecting the political poles by their derogatory remarks against the candidates.
"And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?" Luke 6:41
THE GOLDEN RULE
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intersessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. I Timothy 2:1-3
It is hard to slander someone when you are praying for them and to condemn someone when we all are imperfect people in need of forgiveness ourselves. The Golden Rule has been all but forgotten, a thing of the past from Sunday schools gone by, but the entire Bible rests on one very important statement made by the Savior of the world, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
In a dog eat dog world of violence and death, the word of the living God still stands as a beacon to all who would take it to heart and obey its commands. Jesus was approached by a certain lawyer and asked the most important question that can be asked, "What shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered him with another question, "What is written in the law?" The lawyer then quoted the scripture that states that we should love God with all of our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus answered and said, "Do this and you will live."
The lawyer wanting to justify himself asked Him, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus then proceeded to tell him the story of the good Samaritan who found a certain man robbed and in great need and so he helped the man by putting him in an inn and taking care of all his needs until he was back on his feet, even when a priest and a Levite had passed him by. We as the evangelical church of the Lord Jesus Christ have the truth of God's word, the power and anointing of His Holy Spirit and a mandate to go into all the world with the gospel, making disciples of all the nations and yet for the most part, we sit and attend and boast of great things and do nothing as the world sinks into Hell!
"So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" And he said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Luke 10:36,37

NOTE: Concerning Facebook in which a group of Satanists, vampires, Goths and Pagans petitioned Mark Zuckerberg (Chairman and CEO of Facebook) to allow them to use their "Nightside" names on the social media site. A "Nightside" name is an alias for something that lacks light, a demonic or evil handle, if you will, or a name describing your degree of darkness in whatever cult or coven in which you belong. Zuckerberg agreed to allow them to use their "Nightside" names in order for them to cast spells and operate under the guise of darkness.
