Who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3
It is believed that there are thirty nine root diseases that cause all sickness and Jesus took a stripe on His body for everyone of them, thus healing all disease. The whipping He endured for us was an excruciating experience for any who received the "Cat of nine tails," a whip with nine leather straps with bone or metal tips on the ends to strip away the flesh of the victim.
This cruel Roman punishment was used to whip criminals in a bloody public display that would produce fear in all who watched this horrible event, and it is thought that family members were sometimes made to mop up the blood as a way to humiliate the victim. Many who received the beating died from their wounds from loss of blood or exposed organs, making this form of punishment a deterrent for all those who would rebel against the authority of Rome.
From the time that Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane all the way to the cross of Calvary, He bled in seven specific places, healing all our diseases, cleansing all of our sins, delivering us from poverty, debt and lack and setting us free from the powers of darkness, and breaking the generational curse of iniquity. Jesus paid the price for us all to whom all these cruel punishments are do, standing in for us and taking the penalty for our sins, iniquities and transgressions.
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes (wounds) you were healed. I Peter 2:24
