"For the kingdom of Heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called His own servants and delivered His goods to them. "And to one He gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately He went on a journey." Matthew 25:14,15
The parable of the talents is a story of multiplying that which God has given you, it may be a specific gift or calling, a special talent or an ability He has chosen just for you, expecting you to give more back to Him than He has given to you.
We all as the body of Christ have been given talents from the Lord to employ in the making of disciples, some have special administrative gifts and some have supernatural gifts of healing, deliverance and miracles, but the important thing is: are you using them, and if so, are they multiplying? Those men that the Master gave the talents to multiplied them according to their ability, all except the one who was given one talent, he was afraid and buried his, and when the Master returned, He took away his talent and gave it to the one who was making use of his.
The servant who hid his talent was rebuked, his talent taken away and the master called him wicked and lazy for not being obedient. How many today have hidden their talents, either for fear or laziness and when the Master returns will they not hear those same fateful words? Are you multiplying what God has given you, are you concerned with the making of disciples to expand His kingdom, or are you only concerned with your own welfare and the things of the world?
"For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 'And cast that unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. (Hell!) There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' Matthew 25:29,30
