Are You Ready For the Wedding?
''The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, ''and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Matthew 22: 2,3
Jesus spoke a parable about a wedding being arranged by His Father and He sent out invitations to those that were invited but they were not willing to come. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is an invitation to eternal life and this parable illustrates what is happening right now in these last days.
For two thousand years this invitation has gone out through the voices of countless disciples of Christ testifying of the free gift of salvation given to those that would accept the offer of eternal life. Who wouldn't want a gift of total forgiveness, healing, deliverance and eternal life in heaven with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?
Sadly, as the parable states, many were unwilling to give up their time, business and livelihoods to marry the King's Son, Jesus. You see the gift of eternal life is freely given only to those that will give their life in return as in a marriage vow. This parable is a revelation of what God's free gift requires: giving up all to follow the Bridegroom wherever He leads.
When a woman marries a man she has to give up her name and in some cases move away from her father and mother to a faraway land. In other words she has to give up her life to become one with her husband and follow him. So it is with Christ, one has to give up all in a marriage relationship and follow their new Husband wherever He leads.
Today in the church world salvation is portrayed to be a buffet, just choose the parts you like and throw out the rest. There is no cost, just pray a prayer and your tickets punched, or get baptized, join the church or just show up, NO RULES, JUST RIGHT! Once a week make an appearance, be sure to go on Christmas and Easter and just feel good about yourself, that every things alright with your eternal soul. But is that all there is?
Millions are being deceived by false prophets and false shepherds lulling the sheep to sleep with false teaching and doctrines of demons, telling them that everything is alright, don't worry just show up and write a check and we'll take care of the rest. The mega-church bunch is offering big screen TV and Starbuck's coffee and all the Superstar preachers you could ever want telling you how you can be prosperous by giving to their ministry.
I was reminded of a story on the news a few years ago about a young Jewish couple that were married and were having a ball at their reception, not a care in the world with no thought for to- morrow. They were dancing and enjoying the moment probably thinking of a long and prosperous life together, when all of a sudden the second floor that they were dancing on gave way and collapsed beneath them. The camera was focused on the bride the very moment it happened and I will never forget the look of horror and disbelief on her face as she fell helpless into the devastation below. Many were killed and injured that day never thinking that something like this could happen to them.
So it is today in the church, millions of people thinking they are safe from eternal damnation, dancing and singing about Jesus but never really knowing him. Unsaved church members treading on thin ice with an unmerciful eternal hell beneath them. If you took a poll today in the churches and asked the question: Are you saved, most would reply yes, but wouldn't have a clue why or how they got that way. What a testimony of today's evangelism.
''But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.''So he said to him,' Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment? 'And he was speechless.''Then the king said to the servants,'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ''For many are called, but few are chosen.'' Matthew 22: 11-14
In actuality everyone is invited to partake of the King's invitation, the reason so few accept it is because of the commitment that is required to follow Jesus. The giving up of ones individuality and the laying down of a person's life is too much for most people to do. Remember all the miracles Jesus performed in the presence of multitudes and yet only a handful became His followers. The cost was too much to bear.
Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; their honorable men are are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell has enlarged itself and opened its mouth beyond measure; their glory and their multitude and their pomp, and he who is jubilant, shall descend into it. Isaiah 5: 13,14
