And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Matthew 10:1

Some think that the twelve are the only ones who received power and authority, but that is simply not true, because disciples of Christ are exact expressions of the Lord Jesus! These men weren't sent to seminary to learn how to be eloquent preachers and take offerings, they were just like you and me and they submitted themselves under Him.

If you are born again and filled with His Spirit you have the same power in you that raised Christ from the dead! You don't see the disciples of Jesus renting buildings, holding meetings and preaching on Sundays in the gospels because they were exercising their God given authority to heal the sick and cast out demons in His name!

To fully understand discipleship is to know what you have been given and what you as disciples are called to do. A disciple of Christ was never meant to sit in a pew once a week and then on Monday its business as usual, he is called to do what Jesus did and His disciples did 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! The world is in desperate need of a Savior and He lives in us, so for them to receive from Jesus is to receive from us, because as He is in the world so are we!

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope (confident expectation) of glory. Colossians 1:27

Your servant in Christ, Timothy Laughlin
