Message Of The Month
THE GOD WHO ANSWERS BY FIRE
"Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God." I Kings 18:24
The prophet Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal and Asherah to a duel of sorts by calling upon their gods to answer them by fire and consume their sacrifice. The false prophets built their altar, laid a bull upon it and cried out to their gods to answer them by fire! They yelped and cried out all day, but to no avail and Elijah mocked them saying that maybe their god was asleep or on vacation, but still no fire!
This is what it is like today, men build their churches, fill it with chairs, advertise their services and even give away prizes and use all kinds of gimmicks to get people to come to their church! But that is all it is, "Their church!" No fire, no power, no miracles, only a dead and lifeless system of dry and dusty programs, tradition and ultimately, spiritual death! Many are even "Mega Churches" with thousands of attendees sitting comfortably in their theater seats, having their ears tickled, feeling good about their eternal souls as they slip into the darkness of Hell!
Elijah is a type and shadow of the Lord Jesus Christ, a prophetic overview of the divine model of the yet to come modern day assembly of believers, called out as living sacrifices, washed, filled and sent to be the vessel that contains His character and divine nature!
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Psalm 127:1
THE DIVINE MODEL
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. I Peter 2:4,5
Elijah, a type of Christ built his altar with twelve stones, a shadow of the twelve apostles and symbolic of the government of God. Twelve is the number of the government of the Most High: twelve tribes, twelve disciples, twelve months in the year, twelve hours in the day and twelve hours in the night, not to mention the measurements of the heavenly Jerusalem in Revelation, as well as many other references in scripture.
Once the stones were laid, a trench was dug around it, the wood placed upon the altar and the sacrifice, also a type of Christ. Then Elijah had twelve water pots poured out on the stones, the wood and the sacrifice, filling the trench, representing the washing of the water of the word of God. This is the prophetic view yet to come of the church of Jesus Christ built of living stones, washed in the water and the blood, Jesus Christ our sacrifice, the Chief Cornerstone!
Elijah then called upon the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob in the sight of all the people to send fire from Heaven down upon the altar of the Lord, the future church of the Lord Jesus Christ! The fire of God fell and consumed the entire altar: the stones, the wood, the sacrifice and licked up the water, representing the Holy Spirit poured out at Pentecost!
Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!" I Kings 18:39
HOLY SPIRIT FIRE!
"You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8
Jesus had spent three years training His twelve disciples, lost one, but one more was elected, after the demise of Judas, Mathias. It is interesting that the apostles thought it necessary to have twelve apostles! God's government. If we build God's living temple His way it will always be fruitful and multiply!
The ministry of Jesus had multiplied into 120 called out, on fire disciples, "Only 120 you say?" You would think there would be thousands, after all He healed their sick, cast out demons and even raised their dead, but they were only interested in His benefits and not in following Him! This is where the wheat is separated from the tares, by obeying God's word to follow Jesus and to make disciples, He didn't command us to start churches, He commanded us to make disciples!
If you are fishing on the wrong side of the boat and are not seeing the fire fall or disciples being trained, equipped and sent, then repent and throw the old wine skin out! Be about your Father's business, the old Priesthood is dead and gone, nailed to the cross and a new way is here and Jesus is that way! Model your ministry after His ministry and you will see the fire of Heaven fall upon everything you set your hand to do! "Be Fruitful and Multiply!" The anointed Church of the Firstborn is not a place to go, it is a Person to be, the body of the living Lord Jesus Christ! Praise be to God!
And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:2-4

OVERCOMING FEAR, DOUBT AND UNBELIEF
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba Father." Romans 8:14
Fear is the opposite of faith and it stops all the forward motion of the believer, being a scheme of the devil. The spirit of fear holds millions of people in bondage, many who are totally crippled by it, even to the point of being agoraphobic!
When King David approached Goliath, a nine foot behemoth of a man, trained in battle from his youth and armed to the teeth, he wasn't afraid because his faith was not in his own ability but in the power of God. Even though the giant taunted him with fearful words and threats he didn't waver but kept his eyes on God who was going to deliver him.
As believers we face many giants who test our faith, whether disease, or debt or trials and tribulations, it is by our faith we overcome and are victorious in Christ and in the power of His might and not our own! Remember who you belong to and to whom you serve and God will fight for you and win the battle against the fear that comes to attack you! Fear not!
For God has not given us a spirit (demon) of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7
"Have faith in God. "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.' " Mark 11:22,23
The Lord Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan river, the heavens opened and God spoke in an audible voice, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased" and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove. Jesus was ready to begin His ministry and was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit on a 40 day fast. When the fast ended and Jesus was tired and hungry the devil approached him and said, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
If? Was there any doubt who He was? No! Satan has the audacity to try this scheme on everyone because he knows if you doubt who you are in Christ you are defeated already! Jesus answered him and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.' " When you are approached by the spirit of doubt, use the sword of the Spirit, the word of the living God to defeat it and don't ever forget who you are in Christ even though the devil tells you otherwise!
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." Mark 11:24
A father brought his son to Jesus to cast out a deaf and dumb spirit and he had asked His disciples but they could not do it, and Jesus said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?" Jesus told the father to believe and all things would be possible to him and he said, I believe, help my unbelief! Jesus then commanded the demon to come out of the boy and enter him no more and the boy was delivered!
Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness, Peter walked on water, and throughout the scripture men and women believed God and were rewarded for their faith. We as believers have the promise of doing greater works than Jesus did if we will only take Him at His word and believe!
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

CONNECTING WITH GOD-THE SHEPHERD, THE VINE AND THE BREAD
"That they all may be one, as You Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." John 17:21
In order for us to connect with God as intimately as Jesus spoke and for us to become One with Him relates to a man and woman becoming one flesh in marriage. Joined together with the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.
Within this message we will see what it means for us to enter that relationship of being one with God. First, the Shepherd prepares us to eat and drink without distraction being our provider and protector, next the Vine is our life source, being connected to Him we abide and dwell in Him forever, and lastly the Bread is our communion with the Son making us sharers in His fellowship.
The Shepherd, the Vine and the Bread are our divine connection with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, our co-union, co-munnion and co-mission in life, to be Joint-Heirs with Jesus, seated as One in heavenly places in Him!
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me besides the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His namesake. Psalm 23:1-3
Sheep are the only animal needing human oversight and we as spiritual sheep also need the Good Shepherd's loving care for us. In order for the sheep to eat of the green pasture they have been led to, they must be free from distractions, such as flies, mosquitoes and other pestilence and so it is with us; we must also be free from that which robs us of our quiet time with God.
Once we are still and quiet, the revelation of His word begins to enter our spirit, giving us spiritual nourishment that sustains us and allows us to grow and mature, without which we would die. Next, we are led to still waters because rushing water scares the sheep so they won't drink. Once they are able to drink of the water of life they become tranquil and at rest, free from fear and the anxiety of life.
This is the beginning of the divine connection with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that one can only obtain by seeking their presence and being still so that they can receive spiritual life. Many today who claim to be believers are too busy with their lives and distracted with the worries of the world and the cares of this life and so they shrivel up and die spiritually! For those who allow the Shepherd's care, their soul will be restored and they will be led on the narrow road of righteousness.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:5,6
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." John 15:5
It was once said by a visiting dignitary, "It is amazing how much the American church has been able to accomplish without the Holy Spirit." This statement is so true with the advent of Mega churches, programs of all kinds and with the promotion of their ministries sent around the world by TV.
Jesus said, "My house shall be a house of prayer." He never meant for His true ekklesia (assembly) to be a stadium of lost pew sitters attending once a week to get their ears tickled by some Prima-donna, a term from opera given to the first woman who were often egotistical, demanding and flamboyant. Sound familiar? Jesus also warned us that there would be many false prophets and teachers in the last days!
The very first expression of Christ's body waited on the outpouring of Holy Spirit upon them to receive power and anointing as they connected to the life giving vine! Today we are to be an abiding citizen of the very vine of God, receiving spiritual nourishment and the life of the Spirit. A branch cannot ever leave the vine and if it does, it quickly dies, never to be connected again! Abide, dwell and remain!
"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so that you will be My disciples." John 15:6-8
"I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."John 6:35
Jesus Christ is the bread of life for all who would make Him Lord and partake of the spiritual nourishment He gives. Jesus told His disciples that unless they ate His flesh and drank His blood they would not have His life in them. This term of eating His flesh and drinking His blood describes the covenant we enter upon making Him our Lord.
The Greek word, Koinonia means fellowship, communion, sharing, intimacy and intercourse, the desired relationship we have with the Lord Jesus and with one another. When we are saved, His blood supernaturally washes us from sin and when we partake of His word it supernaturally nourishes our spirit with divine revelation.
This is our life in the Spirit, to become one with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in fellowship and communion, sharing and connecting in a divine love relationship. Deeper than any human emotion, it will fulfill you and feed you with the supernatural power of divine revelation, giving you the benefits of becoming spiritual sons and daughters of the Most High!
"And the glory which you gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one; I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have love Me." John 17:22,23
