APPROPRIATING THE PROMISES OF GOD
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree," that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13,14
Within the book of Deuteronomy 28 are contained the "Blessings and the Curses." As you can plainly see many of the curses are still in effect within God's church today, robbing, killing and destroying many of His people! If Jesus redeemed us from the curse, then why are these curses still coming down on His people?
Redemption is past-tense, Christ has redeemed us from the curse, it is already done, signed sealed and delivered by His death, burial and resurrection! So, why are we afflicted with all these curses of sickness and diseases of all kinds? I believe the answer is obedience, or should I say, "The lack there of!" Remember, God said that if you diligently obey His voice you will be blessed, but if you do not obey, all these curses shall come upon you!
Galatians instructs us to walk by the Spirit and we would not carry out the deeds of the flesh. It is possible for believers, once forgiven and cleansed to return to their disobedient ways just as a dog returns to his vomit, thus the door opens for the curse to come back! Obedience is not an option, we are to walk in repentance in order to receive the benefits of His redemptive work and live in freedom from the curse of the law!
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. II Corinthians 5:21
