A More Excellent Way, Part II
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. I Corinthians 13:1,2
The love of God is the most important gift given to those who have been born of the Spirit and have received the sacrifice and eternal benefit of His Son's death, burial and resurrection. Jesus Christ is our eternal gift, given from the Father's hand for us to inherit life forever more.
Love is the glue that holds the body of Christ together and distinguishes it from every other religion. Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends as Jesus told His disciples. The apostle Paul told the Corinthian church that we can have all the gifts of the Spirit but if we don't have love we are of no earthly value. Today in the midst of world wide tribulation, terror and death there doesn't seem to be much love even from the body of Christ, most of whom are consumed with the worries of the world and the deceitfulness and pursuit of riches.
The world is in desperate need of the Savior's love and mercy and we are the only ones to give it out, as we have received, so we are commanded to give. Instead of railing against Obama and his administration, we should be concentrating our efforts to save the lost by preaching the good news of God's greatest gift of His eternal love, the Lord Jesus Christ!
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
